27: Near Death

The battle intensified. The Barbaric Bullish Axeman with its low intelligence couldn't determine who to attack so it kept swinging its axe in mid-air and randomly attacked the players.
Kian felt a bit more relaxed now. He fell back to drink a health and mana potion to recover. As he did so, more players started to join the fray.
As they launched multiple skills at the boss, it suddenly released an earth shaking roar.
Suddenly, it was surrounded by a yellowish aura and ground beneath it started to crack.
The players raised their guards as they waited for the attack to come.
The attacks wasn't actually that terrifying. The boss started to ran to a small group of players. It was so slow that they were able to dodge the attack perfectly.
Suddenly, Kian had an idea. He approached the boss monster and fired a few bullets.
"I'll lure it to the monsters. Let it help us get rid of this overflow!" he said and fired off multiple Bullet Is to irritate the monster.
The others players heard what he said and stopped attacking the Barabaric Bullish Axeman.
"BUG!" The boss roared as it turned its attention towards Kian as what he had planned.
With earth shaking footsteps, it approached Kian and cleaved at the ground. Kian who had seen the move already dodged and ran once again towards the other monsters while still firing a few more bullets.
He knew that what he was doing was very dangerous. He was a long range fighter and not a tank that draws aggro. However, they were all magi in here.
Moreover, he was quite confident in his agility and dexterity points. With them, he can freely maneuver within the battlefield with his pistol.
The boss monster followed him even as he entered the waves of monsters. Each of its attacks ended up either heavily injuring the monsters or killing them.
Kian's number of rune stones also continued to rise as he finished off the heavily injured the monsters.
The other players also occasionally fired off attacks as they followed the two.
As time passed by, the Barbaric Bullish Axeman's health was now down to twenty percent. The monsters around them were also scared away and their numbers repeatedly dwindled.
"Just a bit more" Kian was excited.
When he was about to fire another attack, the boss suddenly ceased its mindless attacks.
A dark light covered its body and runes appeared on its skin. After a few seconds, it suddenly growed into five meter tall creature. The previous yellowish light from its previous skill was back. Just its aura alone was enough to make Kian breathing momentarily.
With a roar, it raised the axe and attacked Kian. However, it wasn't the previous single slash but a flurry of them.
Kian, although shocked still managed to move to dodge the attacks. However, there were too many of them. Moreover, its body was bigger but more agile which made it easier to move.
He didn't even had the time to fly away. An attack landed on his abdomen and sent him flying. While he was still on the air, another attack landed on his chest and then his shoulders.
"Kuh!" he couldn't help but groan as he fell to the ground.
Streams of red light flowed out from his wounds and floated into the air. His vision also blurred. He knew he was about to die because despite his blurry vision, he can still make out his HP gauge in the red zone.
He felt a sinking feeling in his heart but he couldn't do anything. He couldn't even keep his mind straight.
"Kian!" Bea screamed from afar and quickly ran towards Kian.
Xian who can fly was the first to reach Kian. He took out a health potion and forcefully fed the contents to Kian.
"Hang in there boss!" he worriedly said.
"Girl crushing on Boss! Give me an All-Heal Potion. He's suffering from a bleeding status effect!" he said to Bea who also kneeled and picked up Kian.
Bea was stunned when she heard what Xian called him. However, she quickly recovered and took out the All-Heal Potion.
Xian took the potion and fed it to its dying master.
Kian's pale complexion turned a bit rosy. The two resumed feeding him health potions so that he can recover.
Kian who was already about to give up suddenly felt a warm feeling circulate into his body. He then felt his body being carried away.
He knew he was already saved. However, the others were suffering. It seems that the boss turned its attention towards them when he was taken down.
Despite still feeling weak, he opened his eyes and took out a mana and stamina potion from his inventory and drank them to recover his energy.
"Thanks" the only word he said to the two before he stood up.
His back faced the two as he raised his pistol and aimed it to the Barbaric Bullish Axeman. The two couldn't clearly tell what he was planning to do.
Just a while ago, he discovered that his Bullet I skill had reached a hundred percent in proficiency. It meant that he could now freely manipulate the size, damage, and mana consumption.
A Bullet I formed at the muzzle of the pistol. It was slightly smaller than usual but it had a darker color. Runes were embedded into its surface and glowed with indistinct light.
"Die!" Kian screamed and fired the carefully created Bullet I at the boss.
The boss a dozen meters away was terrorizing a group of players. Just when they were about to give up fighting and closed their eyes, a small bullet appeared and shot through the Barbaric Bullish Axeman's eyes and entered its brain. The bullet then passed through its skull and flew to the sky.
Amidst the wide eyed players' eyes, the boss suddenly exploded into fragments of lights and disappeared.
A small black core with a tinge of yellow dropped into the ground signifying the death of their second leader of the monsters.
