16: Ambush

The Ultra-Fast Automatic Carriage was blown and sent away into the air. It collided with an old abandoned building before it fell into the dusty ground of the street. It made a huge cloud of smoke that didn't disappear for at least a minute.

Inside the carriage, the two were safe. Kian drank a healing potion since he took a bit of damage from the explosion. Alexa didn't take any damage since Kian used himself as a shield. However, the impact caused her to be shaken a bit.

Xian appeared and shot a ray of black light from his eyes. The door of the carriage which couldn't be opened anymore because of the damaged circuitry was blasted open. The three quickly left and jumped away.

A few seconds later, the carriage exploded into an enormous fiery flower. It broke the silence which just took over the place once again and lit up the place for a few seconds.

While focusing his attention to the surroundings, Kian took out his pistol and readied his fingers from firing a bullet. Alexa also did the same and equipped her invisible shark gauntlets.

A deep chuckling resounded throughout the place. A man stepped out of the darkness from the second floor of a building. He was then followed by two other men. They were all wearing black cloaks and a grinning wolf mask.

"What a jackpot. A newly ranked up Cosmage and Martial Lord. Judging from how much you spent at the auction, it seems you two are quite rich." the leader said.

His voice was familiar. It seems that he was the man who fought with Kian over the Treasute King's chest.

"Greedy Wolf Guild?" Alexa was surprised. It seems she recognized their identities through the masks.

The two couldn't help but stare at the trio with contempt and caution. The Greedy Wold Guild ate famous for their fighting skills after all. Moreover, there were rumors that they also kill players for profit. Thus, Kian and Alexa couldn't help but raised their guards up.

"What do you want?" Kian asked, a flash of cold light up his eyes.

"Nothing really important. It's just that someone actually bought the item that I put in the auction despite the fact that there was no way how to open the chest." the leader said and took out a crystal quite familiar towards the two. It was a Drop Gem!

The other men behind him also took out their own Drop Gems and prepared their fighting stance.

"I really didn't think that someone would know about the Treasute King's chest. Say, you don't happen to have the keys, right?" the man said and waved his right hand. A huge scythe appeared, its metallic surface glinted because of the moonlight. It looked a bit similar to the fangs of a wolf rather than a scythe though.

The two quickly understood that the Greedy Wolf Guild was here to kill them and take away the Treasure King's chest.

"I'm sorry about this A." Kian apologized to Alexa before he fired a Phantom Bullet at the enemies.

"It's okay!" Alexa grinned and lunged at the enemies.

The trio quickly dodged the bullet and sent out their own attacks.

"Weak!" the leader said and waved his scythe at Alexa who then took it head on.

Alexa's momentum was forcefully stopped and she was forced to take a few steps back. The enemy also took a step back. However, it's obvious that Alexa was on the losing side on that exhange. Still, it was not enough to discourage her.

An aura that materialized into an illsury figure of a shark appeared and covered her figure. After that, she suddenly bursted into a speed much faster than before. She released a punch and it landed on the opponent's face and sent him flying.

"Tsk!" the scythe wielding man clicked his tongue while he was mid-air. His scythe shook for a moment before a red flame took over its body.

"Die!" he swung his scythe. After that, another round of exhanges occurred.

Meanwhile, the other two Greedy Wolf Guild members also took out action. One of them had a saber. Each time he swung the blade weapon, Kian would be forced to dodge. Kian couldn't even launch his counterattack.

However, that wasn't annoying compared to their magus who fired bullets of ice from his staff. An ice bullet once him in the shoulder and froze a few areas of his body for a bit which hindered his movements.

"Since you really insist then I will Dela with you!" Kian said, irritation was clearly laced on his words.

His legs were bent for a second before he launched himself into the air like a spring. While on air, he fired two shot of Haze Bullets at the two. Within a second, clouds of dark smoke surrounded the two.

Kian didn't let this chance go to waste and he quickly landed next to the magus. Inside the smoke, only he could see the surroundings.

The magus fired ice bullets madly but since he himself was already panicking, he couldn't properly shoot them. Kian used this as a chance to get behind him and knock him over the ground. He grabbed the man's staff and threw it a few meters away.

The man was about to fight back when Kian shot a Bullet I on his body. The attack didn't hurt but it feels as if his hurted for a second and he lost his focus.

It was the effect of the Psyche Coating, an innate skill he got after becoming a Half-Excelcis. The higher the damage of the skill he released, the greater the effects would be.

Kian followed this with multiple Adhesive Shots all over the man's body to disable him and finally surrounding him in a metal case to prevent movement.

Since the Magus was already disabled, Kian quickly jumped to the Sabersman and did the same. In a matter of minutes, the fight was finished in a way that no one expected.
