Prologue
Date Written: January, 29,2017----------
A lot of things had changed through the passage of time. By the Year 3000, society was already barely recognizable to the eyes of a person from the past generations.
The changes were not limited to the people and technology. The world itself had experienced massive changes in its biosphere. Seas and rivers were turned into mountains and hills while the weather became even more unpredictable. The cause of these changes can be attributed to one single event.
A hundred years ago ago, the lumosity of the sun changed in a way that no one expected. In just a day, it turned five percent brighter. Such a small rise in brightness almost turned Earth into a hell-like place like Venus.
The Mother Earth Alliance, an alliance of countries with the aim of creating measures against such extinction level events was formed. Through their efforts, Earth returned back to its previous habitable conditions.
Most of the planet's changes had a huge impact on the rate of development of the technological advancements. This signified the start of an age where people lived under a brighter sky, The Solar Age.
Lester Academy Rooftop/ 12:30 P.M/ Lunch Break
A teenager sat on a shaded area of the rooftop of the academy. A lunchbox was placed beside him with a bit of leftovers. His head felt a bit groggy but unwillingly, he still forced himself to stand up. As he did, the rays of the sun shone upon him, emphasizing his black hair and listless dark orbs. A dark and gloomy air hung around which made him look unapproachable.
This teenager was Kian Sylvester, a transferee in the academy and at the same time a graduating senior high school student.
After depositing the leftovers on a trash bin, he shot a glance at his smart watch and realized that he only had ten more minutes before classes would start. Anxiety flashed past his eyes before he dashed off to the classroom which was just a floor below.
When he arrived, the teacher was still not there. No one noticed him, or rather, they did not bother to care about him much to his satisfaction. He headed towards the farthest corner of the room and made himself comfortable on his assigned seat.
Since the teacher was a bit late, the students were still loitering around and chatting with their friends. A group of boys were gathered at the seats on front of him.
"Noisy..." Kian muttered in a voice that even he could only barely hear. The noise felt grating to his ear and it took quite a bit of his patience for him to calm down. How he wished that the clock would run faster so that he could go home and play games at home.
"We've been preparing for almost a week just for this raid event, we can't afford to lose in the tomorrow," a classmate of his said in a deep voice indicating his seriousness.
Kian's ears perked. The word raid caught his attention.
"Yeah. Dimensional Heroes Online is so hard compared to other games. To think we even had to prepare like we're going to hunt lions or something even though it's just a game," Another one of the other boys added with a laugh.
Kian couldn't help but snort in a way that they wouldn't be able to notice. He simply waved off the game they were talking about as an easy game. It must be because they were too incompetent that they couldn't even deal with an in-game monster.
"Other than the magical elements, it's no different than the real world. It's even located in a separate dimension after all. Even now, I still can't believe that they had managed to invent such a thing. You think the aliens made it?" another one jokingly said which started another bout of laughter from the group.
The contents of their conversation left Kian speechless. What were they talking about? A game in a different dimension sounded too absurd to be real. Maybe they were still dreaming.
It's not like he haven't heard about this game. A few months ago before the game was released to the public, it was the content of the conversation worldwide. It was supposedly a major changer not only in the game industry but also to other fields like the economy and science although no one knew what it was.
He planned to buy it before since he was also curious. After all, he was also an avid gamer. He wanted to become a part of this new game. Unfortunately, a few things happened and here he was, depressed and unable to cope up with the poeple around him.
Right now, that curiosity within him burned once again but he didn't have the much time to think since the teacher arrived. However, the thought of buying the game kept appearing on his mind which sent him into one huge distracted mode and was unable to listen in class.
After classes, he directly went home since he didn't have anything to do and then jumped into his bed. He fiddled with his smart watch for a whole before he decided to browse the internet.
"Search:bGame that Transfers you to A Different Dimension." He said those words on his mind. A screen suddenly appeared with millions of search results.
He chose the first website that appeared and it lead him to the official website of Dimensional Heroes Online. His eyes were narrowed as he read the introduction of the game.
Dimensional Heroes Online
The first game ever to transfer people to another dimension. Created by Space Games and Technologies Company also known as SGTC, this game lets you fight monsters and use magic in the real world.
The dimension was proven safe by countless scientists all over the world.
The game will transfer you to a separate world called Sylis where a fight between the forces of darkness and light is taking place.
It is basically the same as other MMORPGs but with your real body doing the actions. What are you waiting for? Come and play and become a hero you've always dreamt of!
Even though he had already heard it from others, he was still in disbelief as he read the contents. However, all the other websites all said the same thing. There were also pictures and videos of players personally fighting monsters.
He also read about the other features of the game. One of them was the Money exchange system of Rune Stones, the game's currency. You can exchange them into to real life money of any country. Of course, the amount you can receive would naturally not be that big.
"I can't believe that while I was moping around, I actually missed this!" He said bit dumbfoundedly.
After he transferred to Lester Academy this year, he didn't make any friends. He also cut off contact with the few friends he had before on his previous school. It was obvious that the flow of information to him was slower especially when he doesn't even watch the news.
He couldn't help but sigh as his eyes pierced through the transparent glass of the at the window. Flashes of memories from the past seemed to appear on his pupils. The image of a certain girl also surfaced into his mind. On his reminiscing gaze, confusion, anger, and helplessness appeared.
He shook his head clearing those thoughts away from his head.
Kian surveyed at his room which was full of posters of Sci-fi and Fantasy movies and anime. It was as cozy as ever for him.
"I guess these things are the one who dragged me again into something." He revealed a smile and then stood up.
"Yosh! Let's buy those game console tomorrow!" He cheered. He no longer had that gloomy atmosphere from before. He was now a bit cheery unlike his normal mood. This only happens whenever it had something to do with his hobbies.
"Dimensional Heroes Online Huh?Let's see what kind of game you really are!"
