5: Daybreak

The cycle of day and night in Sylis is different from Earth. The night was also shorter and the sun was already about to rise. The corpses of monsters were strarting to disappear since no one decided to loot them. After all, who would care for the money when their lives are on the line? However, more corpses would just be added every few minutes.
In this battle, the number of people who had died was of a considerable number. However, it wasn't enough to discourage the players. They till pushed on and was finally able to see a glimpse of hope that the battle was already about to end. After all, the monsters coming out of the dungeon numbered less and were weaker than the earlier ones.
Kian took a deep breath wiped the sweat on his forehead with a towel. He was at the second floor of the restaurant where they previously waited. It was quite in shambles now though.
Despite the fact that the battle seems as if it was about to end, he didn't feel happy at all. After all, the Excelcis race were still not here.
His levels and stats rose quite a bit but it wasn't really huge compared to others. Of course, Keiko was different since her strength also barely rose.
He glanced at the still dark sky. There was already a glimpse of light peeking through the horizon. It seems that the sun was about to rise.
After recovering his energy, he jumped down to join the battle once again. The others did the same.
On the battlefield, the one who shone the most was Vanish, the strongest player. With a swing of his sword, multiple monsters would disappear in fragments of lights. He was like a grim reaper to these monsters that they were starting to avoid him.
Just now, Vanish just got rid of a level 150 monster after a bit of effort. Still, he only took a few minutes of rest before he quickly joined the battles. This made the other guilds unable to rest so they wouldn't be outdone.
Support type neutral players helped heal the wounded players and also gave them a few refreshments to keep the moods of the tired players lively. They did these actions while monsters were launching attacks near them. It was something that was almost impossible to happen on Earth. Imagine being fed a lollipop while a monster is about to devour you.
The morale of the players were sky high and a lot of them were already cheering. However, a strange sense of urgency fell upon the higher level players who were now used to dangerous situations. The feeling was similar to having a demonic beast standing behind you, just a little turn of your head would let you meet head on with its huge jaws.
"Is a dungeon boss monster going to come out?" They all thought.
It's not like there was no boss monster that came out before. In fact, there were lots of them. However, there was no other explanation for the warning signals in their head.
It wasn't long before the source of their bad premonition showed itself. The sun was slowly starting to rise. It's rays caused the clouds to lit up like cottons catching fire.
Just as the first rays of the yellow disk landed upon the earth, the gates of the dungeon glowed once again. This time however, it wasn't a purple light but a black, colorless light.
Dozens of humanoid figures soared through the sky. After the players got a good look, they saw that these people were silver haired men and women with red eye crystals hovering on their heads. Soon, their numbers reached into hundreds, a huge difference compared to the players who had more than ten thousand members.
Next, a huge machine about five meters tall. It wasn't really sophisticated. In fact, it looked a bit simple. A metal platform carried a huge transparent crystal ball. It was connected to a small gun that had no muzzle. No, it had a muzzle. However, the players couldn't really see it since it was as smaller than a pin's point.
Who knows who were these people and what was that machine but one thing's for sure though. They were up to no good.
An Excelcis with darker red eye crystals hovering on his forehead and coldly looked down upon the players.
"Start the harvesting!" He commanded.
A rain of knives, swords, bullets and all kinds of attacks fell down. They were all similar in the fact that they were not made of any physical material but of psyche energy.
The players quickly erected barriers or met the attacks with their own. However, they did little to defend the attacks from the Excelcis race. When the attacks landed upon their bodies, they felt different sensations ranging from slight headaches to head splitting pain.
Kian's eyes became cold when his eyes landed upon the Excelcis. The others quickly gathered around him.
"Who the hell are you guys?" Vanish who was rampaging on the ground just a while ago flew to the air and asked, his sword making an arc on the air. A sword energy came out and shot to the leader of the Excelcis. A truly barbaric man.
The Excelcis leader waved his hand and released a wave of Psyche energy. It collided with the sword energy and the two disappeared. This man from the alien race identifed Vanish as a strong enemy.
A whirlwind of psyche energy appeared on both of his hands that transformed into a pair of swords. His swords moved like the flurry of the wings of an insect, very fast and unpredictable.
Vanish who used a huge sword was almost unable to keep up with his attacks. He was forced to focus all of his attention on the battle in front of him. Thus, he was not able to view the situation below.
The sun lit up the battleground which was now even more chaotic than before.
