Y/n’s POV-

About five minutes after Erwin and Levi left the basement I was locked in, I heard the door open once more and light, quick footsteps echoed through the hall as the person approached my cell. The person was a woman with dark brown hair in a ponytail and glasses, who wore a mischievous grin on her face that was quite unsettling.

“Oh-ho! You must be Y/n! I heard so much about you after the commander returned from Shiganshina. Did you really take down tens of titans with no formal training at the age of fifteen? Oh how I would have loved to have some of those titans to experiment on, but that’s besides the point!” She said with so much excitement it was draining.

She began to unlock the cell and continued on, “Erwin told me a bit about you from what you described to him, you truly are amazing. Oh yeah! I completely forgot! I’m Squad Leader Hanji Zoe, I also am the leader in conducting experiments on titans to try and understand how humanity can get the upper hand one day.”

By this time she had both my hands unclasped and I began to stand up, my legs shook slightly at the change from sitting so long, but they quickly adapted to standing and I walked to the table that had the rest of my uniform on it. I picked it up and turned back to Hanji, “It is nice to meet you Hanji.”

She quickly grabbed my arm and began pulling me out of the cell and to the door she had entered from. “Here let me show you where you will be staying, then I can tell you more about my titan experiments as I give you a formal tour of the place, since you will be staying here for a few months before you are off to the Training Corps.”

I followed Hanji to a room that had a single bed, a bedside table, a mirror and a small dresser for clothes. “In there we have given you a few extra sets of clothes so you wouldn’t have to keep wearing the ones you are currently wearing,” Hanji said.

I set my things down on my new bed and grabbed my father’s jacket and put it on before Hanji pulled me out of the room once more to give me a tour.

After stories of many different experiments and walking up and down many flights of stairs Hanji had finally finished her tour and returned me to my room. “I bet you want to shower and get into some clean clothes now. Dinner will be available in the mess hall in about an hour if you feel hungry. I’ll be going now, nice meeting you Y/n!” and with that Hanji left.

I went and showered, taking my time till I felt as clean as I could possibly get and made my way back to my room where I got changed into a fresh pair of clothes, which I accompanied with my father’s jacket and my mother’s brooch.

As the minutes passed, I noticed myself grow hungrier and hungrier, believing that the hour had probably already passed, I decided to go downstairs to the mess hall to eat. As I walked closer to it, I could hear the noise of people talking within, knowing that dinner was definitely going on I opened the door and tried to walk in as discreetly as possible.

After I grabbed my food I looked around the mess hall for an open table, but instead of my eyes meeting an empty table, my eyes meet Hanji, vigorously waving her hands at me. “Hey Y/n! Come sit down over here!” she yelled.

As I got closer to the table I could tell the table was where people of higher authority sat, and the closer I got, the more strange looks I got from the other scouts in the mess hall.

When I reached the table Hanji moved over so I had a spot to sit and I looked up to see I was directly across from none other than Captain shorty himself, garnering his emotionless glare that I had seen back in the cell. He was speaking to Hanji, saying something along the lines of, “Do you have to always be so loud shitty glasses?”

“I was just trying to get Y/n’s attention to get her to come sit with us!” Hanji protested.

“Tch. She isn’t supposed to be at this table anyways, she’s not even a cadet,” Levi said, shooting me a glare.

I suddenly felt overwhelmingly unwelcome till Hanji wrapped her arms around me and squeezed me tight, “Awe, don’t say that to poor Y/n! She’s our guest! Make her feel welcome!”

“You’re going to kill the brat,” he said, pointing to me as I struggled to breath in her tight grasp.

She suddenly let me go and gave me a hard pat on the back as I took a sharp inhale to get some much needed air to my lungs. Hanji then turned to me and said, “You are always welcome to come sit here, and if you ever need something we are here for you!”

For the first time in a very long while I felt as if I had some sort of family, even though I had just met these people, something about them seemed like what I family should be. I nodded to Hanji and began to eat the food in front of me.

After a few minutes I began to think about my village and what would have happened to them. ‘I hope they made it to Trost alright,’ I thought. Suddenly it dawned on me that I didn’t even know where I was at the moment. If I was near Trost I could go into town and look through the refugee camp to see if they made it here.

I looked to the commander and began to speak, “Um, Commander Erwin Sir, are we near Trost at the moment?”

He looked up from his food to me, “Actually we are, it’s about thirty minutes away on horseback from here. Why Miss. L/n?”

“Well, my village fled when I heard and saw what was happening in Shiganshina, they would have headed to Trost from our village and I was going to see if I might be able to go visit the refugee camp to try and find them, just to make sure they are safe.”

“Very well, tomorrow Levi will escort you to Trost and back,” Erwin stated calmly.

“What? Why him, why can’t someone like Hanji escort me or something? He hates me!” I said with disgust, I sure as hell didn’t want to spend the day with him after what he did. His attitude was irritating and I didn’t know how much more I could take.

“Tch, I never said I hated you brat. You are just annoying and stubborn,” he said under his breath, just loud enough for everyone to barely hear. He kept his eyes down, staring blankly into his tea.

“Well Y/n, Hanji has experiments scheduled for tomorrow and I have paperwork to do regarding you and our agreement, Levi is the only one free to take you to Trost,” Erwin responded.

“We’ll meet at the stables in the morning, we’re leaving at nine, I don’t want to get back late,” Levi said.

I sighed and nodded, “ Yes sir,” I said, continuing to finish my meal. When I was finished, I left for my room where I fell onto my bed, utterly exhausted. I had been tired since I had woken up, but once my body touched the bed, it grew to a whole other level.

Knowing I would have to be ready by nine the next morning I decided I would just go to sleep then. I threw the duvet over myself and closed my eyes, finding myself drifting off very quickly, and before I knew it, my mind went blank and I fell asleep.

A/n: Heyo~~ Sorry that this chapter is so short, if I kept going I would have had to end it in a really weird place. Also this chaper and the next couple are just like filler chapters, they won't be too exciting sorry.
I realized the first like half of this book is more of an aot insert, as in you are inserted into the actual story rather than just a levi x reader, but I promise it will get all romantic eventually, plus I like aot inserts, so I hope ya'll do too.
