Chapter 12

Side: Ain't No Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant

Brooklyn's P.O.V:

This is gonna be fun. Josie is going down. Asher and I head to one of the two hidden supplies spots that I have. We decide to get fishing line, a potato, potato gun, water balloons, a bucket, toothpaste, oreos, and cling wrap.

Once I finish I turn around to see Asher looking at me weirdly.

"What?"

"Have you always had this."

"Yes. I have to move it a lot so my sister doesn't find this one like she did the other one."

"The other one?"

"Yep. I have two. Come on lets get this party started."

We start with the potato gun, potato, and some fishing line. Asher wraps some fishing line between two trees, while I attach another piece to the potato gun and set it up so when some trips the wire it goes off.

Once we finished that we start walking to the house. We decided to put the bucket filled with water balloons above the back door. At that moment we hear a yell. We both look at each other.

"Logan" we say at the same time.

With Nyssa, Luna, Eli, and Blair all have one strike. Leaving Landon, Asher, Violet, Jordi, Josie, and I with all our strikes left.

We head to the front of the house and use the front door to get in. I have Asher fill the oreos with toothpaste and put them on a plate in the kitchen, while I head upstairs to change into dark wash jeans, black tank-top, leather jacket, and combat boots. Grabbing a big black jacket for Asher and throwing knives from my closest I run downstairs. Its time for the annual new guy prank. You see every time we have someone new I always do this prank where I dress in all black and scare the person. And every single time they run out the door and they get pelted with water balloons by another one of my team mates. In the kitchen I see Asher is eating all the oreos he didn't use for the prank.

"Seriously."

"What?!"

"You just had to eat the oreos. Didn't you." He smiles shyly. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone in the front yard. I smile when I see it's Landon. Time to scare the new guy.

"Asher get ready to pelt Landon with balloons."

"Front or back yard."

"Go in the front but wait till he's in the house till you go out. I'll turn off the lights." I say as I hand him the leftover water balloons and the coat.

Just as I turn off the lights we hear the front door open and close. Silently Asher starts walking to the door and I get next to the door that separates the front foyer from the kitchen and living room. I hear the door open and close again and figure Asher just left. Know it's only Landon and me. I can hear him get closer and his breathing pick up. I lean into the doorway a little and throw a knife close to where Landon is standing. The knife hitting the wall above his head. As he turns around to look back at the kitchen doorway I jump out and scream at the top of my lungs. Next thing I know he's running out of the house screaming like a girl. One step out of the house and he gets pelted with balloons by Asher. I see Josie face palm herself and shake her head.

"I can't believe you fell for that Landon. She does that every time there's a new person."

"Yeah, she did that to me last year." says Violet nodding her head.

Landon was about to say something when we hear a big crash and someone cursing.

We look back to see Luna looking like a drowned rat and water balloon pieces in her hair. I high-five Asher. Five out, six to go. Looking at each other we burst at laughing. Three minutes later we have finally stopped laughing. When we realize we are all in one big group and someone could easily prank them, they all ran out of the front yard leaving Asher and I in the yard. Going back inside I grab the cling wrap and take it outside. Handing Regina and Asher a box we split up and start wrapping Jordan's, Violet's, Eli's, and Blair's cars. 20 minutes later we are finally done with that task. Inside we hear someone start yelling and then an air horn. Someone just ate our cookies then got pranked again by someone else.

Six down, five to go. I signal for Asher to follow me as I head toward the garage to grab a shovel. Finding a spot in the woods behind my house we start digging holes and covering them with sticks and leaves. When we hear a groan and someone falling to the ground. Well Eli just got shot in the balls with a potato. Yup, I had it so if it was a guy that pulled the trigger it would shoot them in the balls.

Seven down, four to go. I'm coming for you Josie, you might want to watch your back.

Walking away from our spot with our holes I see some spots in the ground where it looks like there was something placed. I realize what they might be... stink bombs. Knowing my sister she put them there.

"Asher don't step there!"

Boom. Great he's going to be smelling like trash for the rest of the weekend now. Well played Josie. Well played.
