Side: Brooke's outfit & Just Kids by Alex and Sierra

Brooklyn's P.O.V:

Once everyone is gone Josie and I go upstairs to get ready for the barbecue at Landon's. I grab my phone and turn on Secrets by Marie Lambert. Josie and I call this our family anthem because it sums us up in a nutshell with just a few lines.

"Can you help me find an outfit?" Josie asks as she comes into my room.

"If I can wear something of yours."

"Sure. Good luck."

I find an outfit for Josie, which looks awesome, and start looking for an outfit for myself. I change into dark wash jeans, red long sleeve shirt, a green tank top, and brown pair of boots. I decide to curl my hair today, which took 20 minutes and by the time I was done it was time to go.

"Josie! Time to go!"

"Ok. Be done in a second." Yeah and that second turns into a minute and the minute into five and so on. Like I haven't heard that before. Five minutes later she finally comes down.

"Yeah a second." I say dryly "Now we're late."

"No we aren't. He lives right behind us it won't take 5 minutes to get to his house."

"You never know. Anyways, mom said she and dad will go straight to his house from the store."

"Ok."

As we were walking we talked about the hunter getting closer and closer to finding out where and who we are. We've been trying to figure out if there is someone in town that could be a hunter but so far we haven't found anything. Just incase though, we warned everyone that they should be careful when they use their "gifts". Finally we arrive to see all our friends have arrived and sitting at the patio table talking to two adults who must be Landon's foster parents.

"Finally. You guys are late and you live right behind Landon. How is that even possible?" Eli says.

"Josie is what happened."

"Hey!! What's that suppose to mean?!"

"It means that whenever you say one second it's way more than one second." At this everyone started laughing. Eli laughing the most out of the group got a glare from Josie, which just made him laugh so hard that he actually fell off his chair and right onto his face. This lead to everyone laughing at him. Eli stands up rubbing his nose, his face as red as an apple.

I jump as I hear my mom say."What's so funny? What did you guys do now?"

"Nothing." I say a little too fast to my liking.

"You guys didn't blow something up again did you?" My dad asks.

"Ah come on dad that was one time and it was by accident it's not like we planned that it would blow up like that. If we had known we would have done it farther from the house."

"Do I even want to know what they mean?" Landon asks.

Josie and I yell "No!" at the same everyone else say "Yes."

"Just tell him you two. It's actually a really funny story." Asher says.

"No it's not."

"Yes, it is."

"Asher, we could have set the house on fire!!"

"Just tell them the story."

"Fine. Brooklyn, you can tell him." Josie says.

I sigh "When we were 14 years old, we decided that we would try this thing that a friend and her cousins do sometimes with Lysol and a lighter. So our parents aren't home and we go outside. We spray the Lysol in the air and light it so its like a torch. Well we were too close to the house and of course its windy so it makes it worse and we almost caught the house on fire. That's why you see a black spot on the back of the house. Also the last time our parents let us get close to a lighter."

"I'm really starting to wonder about you guys." Landon says.

"Why?"

"Prank wars, setting Lysol on fire, and having a reputation at school that is most likely bad. Yeah totally shouldn't be worried." He says with sarcasm dripping of his voice.

"Hey that 'reputation' has let us have a non-bullied high school life, the Lysol thing was a long time ago, and you have to admit the prank wars are really fun."

"Brooke your hair is purple!!"

"Hey! I like my hair like this."I say a little offended.

Josephine's P.O.V:

"You're welcome then," I say with a smirk. Everyone laughs.

"So what color do you want next time?" Landon asks

"Not telling you. If I fall for it again I'm praying that it's Josie so that I can get a color that I know I'll like."

"How bout we stop talking about hair dye," Logan suggests. The others agree and we spend the next 20 minutes talking about sports. Go figure.

After a boring discussion about the Dallas cowboys cheerleaders, Landon's parents announce that the food is ready. The teenagers set up the picnic tables around the yard while the parents bring over burgers, ribs, sandwiches, hot dogs, brats, baked beans, chips, potato and macaroni salads, just to mention a few.

As we sit down parents talk about work and hobbies when the younger attendees tell stories and talk about all the trouble we've gotten into.

Dinner flies by and pretty soon we're all gathered around a massive bonfire making s'mores and singing all of the songs we can possibly think of. After an hour of this I look around to take stock of everyone left. Many of the families with young children like the Greenbergs, have left but all of my friends said they'd tell us when they're leaving. And Asher and Regina are missing.
