Heart's are pumping, backs are sweaty and nerves are shot as Lauren and Normani walked through the parking lot towards the doctors office.

The two of them had no idea of their true feelings towards each other and that was elephant in the room.

Normani walked in first and Lauren walked in close behind her. Lauren took a seat in the waiting room while Normani went to the front desk to fill out papers.

The two sat beside each other in utter silence. Normani stared around the room, there was a thousand things she was thinking about.

Lauren thought about a thousand things at once as well. She thought about Ally, she thought about how she is gonna have to juggle her career and a child, she even thought about her parents and what they would think. She thought about how she wasn't fit to be a parent right now. She had too much going on in life and so did Normani. They both didn't want to be with each other and neither one of them knew it.

Lauren has no idea Normani's lost feelings for her. Normani doesn't know that Lauren never truly had feelings from the start. The two women were unhappily together and the only thing holding them back from saying it wasn't because of the mini circumstances, it was their pride.

If Normani's pride wasn't so in the way, she would end things regardless of this doctors appointment; if she's pregnant or not. If Lauren's pride wasn't so in the way, she would have ended things long ago despite not wanting to hurt anybody because little did she know, she hurt the one person she loved the most in the end and here she was....without them.

What bothered her most was the fact that Ally still wasn't returning her calls and messages. It made Lauren nervous because she was unsure of what Ally was up to. Her worst fear was Ally giving her attention to someone new—doing the things she did to Lauren to someone else.

It nearly scared her to death knowing how beautiful Ally was and how infectious her energy and smile was. She's such a beautiful person that anybody could fall in love with her and Lauren selfishly wanted to be the only one for Ally.

As the two minds begin to separately spiral, the nurse called for Normani and gestured that the doctor was ready for them. Normani glanced at Lauren quickly as they both stood up and followed the nurse down the hall to their room.

"The doctor should be in with you two very soon." announced the nurse. "Just sit tight."

"Okay." Lauren nodded.

Normani smiled as she watched the nurse leave the room. "Thank you."

Normani sat on the examination table while Lauren sat in the guest chair by the wall and leaned back out of comfort to ease her nerves.

To cut the silence, Lauren asked the generic question. "Are you nervous?"

Normani looked up at the ceiling while slowly sliding her hands up and down her lap and took a deep breath. "Yes...very."

Normani stared at the big ultrasound monitor and all the small machines and she got even more nervous.

Lauren chuckled to lighten everything. "Why?"

Normani shrugged. "Because, you know my family background. It's always a 'what if' and I don't know what expect."

At that time, Lauren abruptly got the need to blurt out that she wanted to take a paternity test but before she could even part her lips, there was a knock on the door. The door opened and the doctor walked in.

"Well good afternoon ladies!" She greeted happily as she closed the door behind her. "Miss Jauregui, Miss Hamilton."

She was a 45 year old black woman originally from Georgia who moved to L.A. to become a celebrity doctor and had been Normani's doctor since she moved to Los Angeles about 6 years ago. She and Normani's relationship was rich and Normani was very comfortable around her. Her name was Doctor Lisa E. Mullins.
