Casimiroa edulis, with English common names casimiroa, white sapote, and Mexican apple, and known as cochitzapotl in the Nahuatl language, is a species of tropical fruiting tree in the family Rutaceae, native to eastern Mexico and Central America south to Costa Rica. The genus is named for "an Otomi Indian, Casimiro Gómez, from the town of Cardonal in Hidalgo, Mexico, who fought and died in Mexico's war of independence." The tree's rich history and its connection to Casimiro Gómez endow it with unique magical properties. The legacy of Casimiro's bravery and selflessness is said to inspire the white sapote wood's calming and diplomatic magic, making it particularly suited to gentle healing and cordial spells that reflect the peaceful aspirations of its historical roots.
Native to Mexico and Central America, White Sapote makes for a friendly and soothing wand, with a knack for healing magic and potions, especially those to do with sleep. Often spells cast with such a wand seem almost faded out, with pale or even indistinct colors, a curiosity unique to the wood. Those chosen by White Sapote wands are often soothing by nature and excellent diplomats, more than able to smooth over difficulties and prevent grudges from forming and festering. Further, White Sapote wands tend to choose those wizards who do not hold grudges themselves and tend to forgive easily.
A legendary figure in the magical community, the wizard Atzin the Harmonious, was known for his unrivaled skill in negotiation and peacekeeping, primarily attributed to his White Sapote wand. During the historic Summit of Wizards in 1854, Atzin resolved a conflict between two long-feuding magical families. Witnesses claimed his calming presence was amplified by the wand's magic, with the colors of his spells subtly shifting in soothing waves. This event has become a cherished story among wandmakers and historians alike, underscoring the wand's legacy in promoting peace.
