The bamboos are evergreen perennial flowering plants in the subfamily Bambusoideae of the grass family Poaceae. The word "bamboo" comes from the Dutch or Portuguese languages, which probably borrowed it from Malay.
Greatly valued in India, Vietnam, Japan, and China, bamboo wands are happy-go lucky and among the friendliest of wand woods. Bamboo is a highly sought after for its rumored ability to grant good fortune to its owner. This has caused a high number of theft and black market trade of bamboo wands. Good humored folk, these witches and wizards are extroverts with great flexibility and generosity. They like to give their time to worthy causes, and like to help their community. Treating others as they want to be treated is important to them–though they may have been more mischievous in their youth.
Having many friends, these are highly sociable people who dislike being alone. They are also polite, and can adjust themselves accordingly to the situation. Whatever the situation is, they flow with it and react well under pressure. They know how to persevere in adversity. As children naturally like them, and bamboo wand owners make excellent parents or caretakers. They love to take care and provide for others. There is talent in magic to do with sound, warding off unwanted persons, magic or presences, and in magics to do with trapping or capturing. As this wand is friendly, it doesn't mind being used by others than its owners. This is the reason why bamboo wand theft is a serious issue– as many other wand woods will burn or shock potential thieves.
