In this world, there are many tools one may use to direct magic. One of the most well known of these is the wand. Of course it is a common saying that "The wand chooses the wizard", with all wands having a degree of awareness with which they select...

Cercis canadensis, the eastern redbud, is a large deciduous shrub or small tree, native to eastern North America from southern Ontario, south to northern Florida but which can thrive as far west as California. It is the state tree of Oklahoma.
Prized in eastern North America and California, Redbud Wands seek witches and wizards who value love and redemption above all else. They are eager and enthusiastic in all their pursuits. They believe in putting all of themselves into their efforts and can stress themselves out by taking on too many responsibilities at once. Though they are ambitious, they are good at appearing disinterested in subjects or opportunities that do interest them. They keep their true desires close to their chest, and wait patiently, as they work hard towards their goals, for the right opportunity. Fate is an ugly concept to them. They believe their actions primarily determine their destiny. If others tell them that their future is predetermined in any way, these witches and wizards will work even harder to prove them wrong. They are forgiving folk and believe everyone deserves a second chance or more. It's never too late to change in their eyes, and that it's okay to make the same mistake more than once. Like black walnut, wands made from redbud will refuse to work for an owner who is not honest with themselves.
Redbud wands attract bees, as well as restless spirits (around the new moon). Crimson, pink, and white sparks flicker from this wand when it performs magic (especially magic to do with love or blood). A burnt sugar scent is emitted by this wand when its owner is joyous. There is a talent with magic to do with blood, fertility, and love. There is also talent in magic to do with illusions and glamours– magics that mask the truth, so to speak. Best subjects include transfiguration, charms, potions, divination (especially predicting romantic or platonic matches), and herbology. An amusing pattern among redbud owners is how easily and fiercely they can blush.
