Chapter 8: Old Friends!

       Zane flew up to Alexa. "Hey, Alexa." Zane greeted. "Hi." Alexa greeted. "Have you asked Neal out yet?" Zane asked and Alexa sighed. "I told you it will not happen, nor do I want it to." Alexa replied. "Why not?" Zane asked. "Because he is a prince." Alexa replied. "But he is really nice." Zane told her. "Maybe, but I just do not like him like that." Alexa told him. "Want to go on a flight?" Zane asked and Alexa smiled. "Really?" Alexa asked. "Sure." Zane replied. "Okay, lets go." Alexa agreed. Zane flew into the sky and Alexa followed him. "The wind is nice." Zane commented. "The whole day is nice." Alexa added. Alexa looked over at him with a small smile. Zane looked down and smiled. "Look, there's Henry and Neal." Zane commented as he flew down and Alexa sighed. "Of course." Alexa agreed as she followed him down and they landed. "Hey, what are you guys doing?" Zane asked. "We ran in to each other and started talking." Neal replied. "Alexa and I were just flying." Zane told them and Neal smiled. "Beautiful day." Neal commented and Henry nodded. "It is." Henry agreed. "I should go. Want to go on a walk with me, Alexa?" Henry asked and she shrugged. "I guess." Alexa replied. Henry smiled as they walked away from the group.
      Zane smiled at Neal. "So, are you going to ask Alexa out?" Zane asked. "Why would I do that?" Neal asked as they walked through the forest. "Because you said she was cute." Zane replied. "No, I did not." Neal told him. "Yes, you did. When I first introduced you to her, you said my friend was cute." Zane told him and he sighed. "Oh, I know what you are talking about." Neal told him. "So, are you going to ask her out?" Zane asked. "No, because I was not talking about her." Neal replied. "Then who were you talking about?" Zane asked and Neal sighed. "Henry." Neal replied. "Oh.... Well, I think that is great." Zane commented and he smiled. "Really?" Neal asked and Zane smiled. "Yeah, really." Zane replied. "Thanks." Neal commented and Zane nodded. "No problem." Zane agreed. "How about you and Alexa?" Neal asked. "What about us?" Zane asked. "Are you guys dating?" Neal asked. "No." Zane replied. "Really?" Neal asked. "Yes." Zane replied and he shrugged. "Okay." Neal agreed and Zane sighed.
     Zane flew back to the caves with Neal. "I need to get back to my family." Neal told him. "Okay, see you later." Zane agreed. Neal flew off and Zane walked over to Alexa and Henry. "Hey, guys." Zane greeted. "I should go." Alexa commented. "What is it, Alexa?" Zane asked and she sighed. "Nothing." Alexa replied. "Something is wrong." Zane commented. "You." Alexa told him. "What about me?" Zane asked. "You are so oblivious." Alexa replied. "How am I oblivious?" Zane asked. "Just asking that proves how oblivious you are." Alexa replied. "Alexa." Zane commented. "I am just tired of covering your butt while you go to the village to hook up with some girl." Alexa told him. "Shhh. It is not like that." Zane told her. "Whatever. You rather some human girl then your best friend." Alexa commented in tears. Zane just starred at her as Henry sighed. He slowly walked away with his head down. "Do you have feelings for me?" Zane asked. "Yeah, Zane. I do. For several years now." Alexa replied. "Why did you not tell me?" Zane asked and Alexa sighed. "I tried, Zane. But you never heard me." Alexa replied. "I care about you, Alexa." Zane told her. "But not in that way?" Alexa asked. There was a moment of silence. "I.... Do not, I am so sorry." Zane replied. "I know." Alexa agreed. She turned around and flew away.
      Zane walked up to Henry. "Hey." Zane greeted. "Hi." Henry greeted. "Did you know about Alexa?" Zane asked. "Yes, I did." Henry replied. "Why did you not tell me?" Zane asked and Henry sighed. "Because while Alexa was pining for you, I was pining for her." Henry replied. "You have feelings for Alexa?" Zane asked and Henry nodded. "Yeah, for quite a while. But she likes you, always has. I will always be the third wheel." Henry told him. "You are not a third wheel, you are one of my best friends." Neal told him. "I should go, my parents will be asking for me." Henry told. Henry flew away as Zane sighed.
      Mandy walked up to him. "You had me worried sick. You must stop going off like this." Mandy told him. "Stop suffocating me!" Zane exclaimed as he walked past her. "What has gotten under your scales?" Mandy asked. "I am just having a really bad day." Zane replied. "Well, do not talk to me like that." Mandy told him. He sighed as he turned to face his mom. "You do not let me breathe." Zane told her. "What do you mean?" Mandy asked. "You are always wanting me to be around you 24/7, and I am just sick of it." Zane replied. "I am just worried about you." Mandy told him. "Nothing will happen to me." Zane told her. "Your father said that exact same thing before he went off and was killed by a stupid Pegasus!" Mandy exclaimed. "But I am not my father, and things happen! You cannot control everything!" Zane exclaimed. "Well, I can sure try!" Mandy exclaimed. Zane sighed and shook his head. "I cannot do this right now." Zane told her. He walked past her and flew away.
     Zane and Neal were flying high up in the sky. "Your mother is causing that much trouble?" Neal asked. "Yes." Zane replied. "It sounds similar to my parents. They want me to find a princess to marry after Christopher marries the future Queen, which has just been decided." Neal told him. "You are not marrying a princess." Zane commented and he laughed. "Yeah, but I cannot tell my parents or siblings that." Neal told him. "I just want to see Maybelle right now. Sometimes I feel like she is the only one who is really there for me." Zane told him. "Who is Maybelle?" Neal asked with a smirk and Zane sighed. "A girl from the village." Zane replied. "The human village?" Neal asked. "Um, yes." Zane replied. "Well, I think that is very nice. As long as you are happy." Neal told him and he smiled. "Thanks." Zane commented.
