The room was covered in a warm blanket of silence and sorrow, Makoto laid out on her couch with a pillow over her head as she sobbed quietly. Why why why, she thought over and over again, thinking about Akira's broken-hearted face before she ran off from their last date.
It's been 3 weeks since the two called it quits over a petty argument that was brought about by a comment made by none other than Ryuji, who pointed out that Akira doesn't seem to wear the pants in the relationship and that he was whipped. And of course out of rage, Makoto gave in and broke off their relationship, but now she feels nothing but regret.
Meanwhile, Akira stirred the coffee in his mug in silence, his glasses set to the side as he listened to the background sound of the TV. He let out a deep sigh, lightly pushing the cup away. Sojiro let out an even deeper sigh, pushing the cup back, "Drink it, it'll help."
From the corner of his eye, Akira saw action figures slowly inch towards him, catching his eye, "Now, prepare to die evil doer!" Futaba made gunshot noises with her mouth, hitting the two action figures against one another, then smiling at Akira. He grinned softly, then looked back down at the cup.
He focused on his reflection, seeing the bags under his eyes and the slight redness of his nose in the drink. Frustrated, he pushed the cup away once more, accidentally spilling it on Sojiro before getting up and storming out of Leblanc. "Hey, Akira!" Futaba called after him, but he kept walking aimlessly, wandering around his neighborhood.
Finally, he came to a stop in an alley, putting his back against the wall and sliding down before he was sat on the ground. His phone vibrated in his pocket, and as he pulled it out he saw Haru's contact picture appear on his phone. He ignored the call, only to have her call again. He continues to ignore the call as much as possible, she was just so persistent when it came to something like this.
Finally, he gave in and answered his phone angrily. "What?! Can't you see I want to be left alone!"
On the other end of the line, Makoto's tear filled eyes glistened before a tear fell from her eye, "I.. I'm sorry.."
Akira's scowl fell immediately, and he jumped to his feet "Makoto! Oh my God I am so-"
The line fell dead. "No no no no." Akira fumbled with his phone in an attempt to call her back, he just had to make things right.
His shaky hands finally dialed her number, practically hitting himself with his phone as he lifted it up to his ear and began pacing back and forth. "C'mon pick up pick up pick up baby please.."
Back at the Nijima household, Sae was sat with Makoto on her bed, comforting her. "I told you he was nothing but trouble, you should've remained focused on your studies."
Makoto was silent, sobbing into her sister's chest as she softly caressed her head. "Relax.. Take some deep breaths. Everything is going to be alright Makoto." Sae felt Makoto's phone begin to vibrate, looking over and seeing Akira's name pop up. Checking to see if Makoto noticed, she reached over and ignored the call, then blocked his number, putting her phone back in it's spot. You better make this right boy.
Makoto looked up at her, "Was that your phone?"
Sae grinned, "Yes, it was work. I should go see what it is, you hang tight, alright? Try to get some rest."
Makoto watched her sister leave, looking at her phone and seeing no notifications.
After a few minutes of sulking, Makoto decided to call it a night. Turning off the lights and getting into her nightgown, she crawled into bed and pulled the covers up to her shoulders, hugging her pillow tightly. Her eyes burned from all the crying she had just done, she felt like they were as dry as ever. Because of this, she fell asleep in a matter of minutes.
Being awaken from her dream, Makoto was now staring out her bedroom window as she heard the doorbell ring. She yawned, looking at her clock and seeing it was 4 AM. "Sis, could you get the door?"
Sae didn't answer, earning a sigh from Makoto as she dragged herself out of bed and looking into her sister's room which was empty. She had gone to work.
Her feet dragged as she turned on all the lights as she made way to the front door. Once she was there, she yawned, "Who is it?"
"Makoto.. Open up please. Please hear me out.."
Her eyes widened, and she swung the front door open. Before her stood a shivering and drenched Akira, who has walked all the way from Leblanc to her house with merely 3 hours of sleep. He immediately bent over, "Makoto, I am so incredibly sorry. I can't even begin to express it.."
He stared down at her feet as he struggled to gather his thoughts, "I don't care if I'm whipped, I don't care if you wear the pants, I don't care what Ryuji thinks. I just want you back..."
Makoto was in utter shock. Even after she was the one who left him, the one who initiated the fight, the one who always causes the most pain and issues in the relationship.. he still loves her. Why..
"Please Makoto.. I love you."
"You can stand up.. Really." He looked up at her, slowly standing upright. "You didn't need to apologize.. It's me who needs to apologize."
She walked up to him and pulled him into a sweet embrace, squeezing him tightly as she shut her eyes to stop the tears, "I won't ever leave your side ever again."
From her car, Sae watched the scene unfold in the rain. She grinned softly, feeling a bit of conflict in her, but setting it aside. "As long as you're happy, I'm happy.." She turned up her radio slightly, leaning back in her chair and shutting her eyes as the two continued to embrace in the pouring rain, not caring that they are about to catch a cold. They finally had each other back.
