You stared out the window of the taxi, "Where in the world are we going?" Your head turned to your best friend, who was silently staring out the window as he tapped his foot. He hasn't spoken to you the whole time you were on your ride, causing you to groan and roll your eyes. "Earth to Goro! I'm talking to you."

"I hear you." He finally responded, scooting closer to the door.

"Any farther and you'll fall out the door." You joked, placing a hand on his shoulder. He pushed your hand off, your brows raising as you retract your hand. "Sorry.."

"Stop here." The taxi came to a sudden stop, and you looked around at your location. You two were literally in the middle of nowhere where all you saw was a large patch of grass and a river.

"Come with me." Goro got out of the car, leaving the money for the ride beforehand. You followed after him, the taxi driving off not too long after back to Tokyo. Akechi took a seat next to the river, his legs dangling just enough to touch the very top of the water. You sat down next to him, hugging your legs to your chest.

"Tell me (Y/F/N), what are your dreams for the future?"

His question was an odd one, but you answered anyways, "I want to get married one day.. Have a family of my own and get a well-paying job." You answered with a smile, resting your head on your knees as you looked at him. "What about you?"

His eyes grew sad, "I don't have any." He looked down at his reflection in the water, "For right now, I guess my goal is to get into a college."

Your mind traced back to a few months ago when his first college rejected him, sighing, "You'll get it eventually, I know it."

He gripped the grass, "You sure are optimistic."

"Because I believe in you!" You smiled widely at him, then sat up. You scoot closer to him and rest your head on his shoulder, "You need to have more faith in yourself, Mr. Ace Detective."

His shoulders dropped, looking down at his hands, "(Y/F/N)... You know I would never want to hurt you."

You raised a brow, "Of course... Goro is everything okay?"

"And if I ever did hurt you... It was only to protect you from danger."

Your heart stopped, and you quickly sat up and stared intently at him, "Stop being so weird you're freaking me out."

"My end is near," He looked up at you and grinned, "I already know it is... So I wanted to spend my last moments here with you."

You began to wonder what he could possibly be talking about, holding the tears back as you tried your hardest to keep your composure, "What are you sick or something? This isn't a funny joke."

He twiddled his thumbs, then sighed. "It's quite a lot to explain, And I don't think you could truly understand."

"Sure, like how I couldn't understand your Phantom Thieves case right..." You sighed, turning away from him as you pouted.

"Please don't be like this (Y/F/N)... You're my best friend, the only person I care for. Please don't be grumpy..." Your eyes widened as you felt his arms wrap around you. He buried his face in your neck, "I'm so sorry.."

"Hey.. please tell me what's going on.." You muttered as you rested your head atop of his, "Does this have to do with that weird question you asked me yesterday? About someone hurting me?"
