"so that's 9 correct answers out of 10. Well done, Hamdy."
Pamela cheered, and I clapped softly. He, once again, smiled at me, and replied."Thank you, Mrs O'Connell."
Pamela smiled at him, then turned to me, and the others. Her voice lower than usual.
"Well, What do you guys think ?""I think he was pretty good."
Johnny said.
The others nodded, including me.
Pamela turned to Hamdy, who seemed hopeful."We'll try you out, Hamdy. If you're good, then you got it."
She said, and in her tone, I heard satisfaction. The Next Day :
"Tell me again why we need to go to school by the minibus ?"
I asked my mum as we rode one of those minibusses that goes past my school."I told you, I told the driver James to take some rest before he goes to Borj El Arab to pick up your father."
"and the other car ?"
"It needs fixing. And, you don't need to complain everytime we take the bus."She rolled her eyes.
"Well, I'm sorry I don't want to be squeezed between men and ruin my outfit."
I said, sarcastically.10 minutes later, We arrived at our destination. A region called Victoria.
I walked next to my mum for another 5 minutes.
The path is not over yet. I thought. But then I felt my mum turn around.
I turned around due to her fast action, and I saw my friend Menna Tawfiq, and her mother Mabrouka.
Menna hugged me."Hi, Adelle. How are you doing ?"
I smiled.
"Great, Thanks. How are you doing ?"
"Great. Come here, talk to me."
She pulled me to the front, and we started talking, as Mabrouka dragged my mum into conversation."Menna, Did you find your phone yet ?"
I didn't know why I asked that, it just slipped out.
"No, I swear."
She said, looking at me in..fear..?
I nodded reassuringly."Did you hear anything from Menna Fahim ?"
She asked me."Unfortunately, no. She won't talk to me."
"Me neither. She should sit with us sometimes !"
I stared her down, confused.
"Why do you keep saying 'us' ? You know I'm always busy at lunch time.""You have to excuse yourself from all the work, you know. You can't work your life away."
I nodded, knowing that she won't understand.Break Time :
We sat in my empty class, talking and discussing the next step.
"well, now. We have to find someone to replace T. R. Knight."
Hayden said, serious.
"we only have one who signed up for the role."
Johnny said, looking through some papers.I lifted an eyebrow, and asked.
"and Who's that ?"
"Pitbull."
Caden answered casually, and I scoffed.
"What ? No way."They all stared at me.
"Why not ?"
"just no. He's not the hard working type."
Hayden stared into my eyes."No, That's not reason. I know it when you're lying."
He said, and the others followed.
"Yeah, Adelle. What's wrong with him ?"
"Nothing !"That did not tell them the answers apparently.
"You know you can tell us anything, right ?"
Caden asked, still eyeing me."I do know that ! I just think He might turn out just like Stoney Westmoreland !"
As I said so, Asher stared at me. Matt spoke next.
"Oh, so now you want us to listen to you ! After you did nothing to save Mars !"Annie sighed.
"It's not like that, Matt."
"then what is it like ? You know what, Let's hire Pitbull. It's not like there's anyone else to hire."Matt said bitterly, and the others nodded. Asher didn't nod or say anything, he just furrowed his eyebrows, and his expression went cold.
Mine as well.__________________________________
