So I couldn't understand what mum's point was. I just thought she made that up, because it happened before. But the next day she asked me and Rajwan to go with her to Vodafone to ask about what to do about the SIM card.
I was thinking about it as I told Rajwan everything, mum didn't hear us because she was talking on the phone.
"so mum said the phone was stolen in Victoria ? Why would she ?"Rajwan asked, just as confused as me.
"Yeah. I don't know why, but, when mum knows something new she never tells. I think she knows something."
He agreed as we entered the place. My mum was angry when she found out she had to bring more people to prove that the phone was our dad's.
We came out of the place later, and started to walk towards our limo.I decided to speak up.
"mum, I know you're suspecting someone. Who's it ?"
"no one, just be careful at school,Honey."
She said, mysteriously.
"I would, but tell me who do you think stole the phone ?"I insisted, and she said something that made me regret it.
"Menna Tawfiq."
..what ?"what ? But, mum, why do you think that ?"
Rajwan asked.
He knew about Menna Tawfiq, ever since I met him I told him everything, and he knows that I was Menna's first friend when she came to the school.Mum's explanation was legit, and it made sense.
"when we rode the minibus the day we didn't find the phone, I opened my bag to get a tissue, and I thought I left it open. But then, when we were walking the small region from Victoria to Loughran, I felt my bag moving. I turned around, and I saw Menna and her mother. Menna took your hand, and walked away from us, and Mabrouka (her mother) took my hand and started walking."It suddenly hit me. I thought as if Menna was trying to distract me from something.
I felt betrayed.
We rode the car, and I was deep in thoughts. I almost cried.
How can Menna do that to me ?Rajwan saw my face, and patted my shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Adelle. I know how you feel."
"It's not your fault, Rajwan. Don't worry."He pulled me in for a hug.
The Next Day :
Omar El-Mochtar Middle School :I sat quietly on my desk during break time, writing in my story notebook.
I heard a knock on the door, and didn't look up.
I thought it was one of the annoying teachers that comes to make sure every class was empty. ( it's true. )"Hey, Adelle. Can we talk to you ?"
I looked up, to see Hayden, Johnny and Caden.
"No."
I muttered under my breath, and continued to write."Listen, we just wanted to say sorry about what happened the other day."
There he is, the usual annoying Hayden.
"Yeah, right."
I murmured.
Johnny sat next to me, Caden and Hayden randomly sat on the desk in front of me."We just didn't find anyone to replace Knight so we just hired the only one available."
"We could've asked Hamdy to do it. Or that you people don't trust Egyptians ?"
I said angrily."But we were in a hurry, and we're sorry for what Pitbull did."
"hiring Pitbull was a bad idea, but in any way it would be Matt who should apologize."They smiled.
