"Well, one thing I could say about Charles that he was..determined. And he was quite nice. I remember when I first met him, he was the nicest person, and the most hard-working that can work for you.."
I saw Hanin sitting in the last seat, smirking evilly at me, which made me more nervous.
"He was so smart. He understood things straight away, and he was a quick-learner. That's not the only thing about him. He was quite elegant, and can deal with people easily, and nicely.."
I said, trying my best not to cry.I actually meant that. Mars was everything I said he is.
Halfway through my speech, I saw Hanin's smirk getting wider before she got up from her seat.
That's why she sat in the back. So no one can see her.I tried to keep my voice calm, also trying not to think of her, as I kept talking about Mars in front of the crowd.
But I wondered what was making her so satisfied.Later, I got my answer.
Here's how.I continued my speech, looking from the crowd to the floor, and sometimes both. I couldn't see Hanin anymore. And I wasn't thinking straight.
That's when it happened.
The pole that had a few decorations on it starting falling down.
I looked down where the pole was the supposed to be falling into.
Hayden.
"Hayden, look out !"I yelled, but it came out softer than I thought. And I froze as I heard the pole hit the floor loudly.
Everyone started turning around, asking questions in process, but shock has gotten the best of me, and I stood there like an idiot. Barron looked at me, his eyes widening.I glanced back at him, then back at where Hayden was supposed to be.
The pole had already fallen. But then I saw Hayden backing far away from the pole, being held back by my brother.
Rajwan saves the day.How grateful I was.
I coughed in attempt to catch the crowd's attention, which, surprisingly worked.
People looked back at me, and Mars' mother, whatever her name was, eyed me in concern.
What was happening ? She seemed to be asking.I wanted to go to Hayden and ask him if he was okay, but he nodded at me in order to continue, which I did anyway.
I was still quite nervous, my heart was beating fast from the shock of the pole.
It didn't take a while for everything to change.A few moments later, everyone was back to Funeral Mode, their faces turning solemn and serious again, making me mentally sigh in relief.
I continued to talk, pausing between words to catch my breath.
I thought I heard something clicking.
I didn't pay attention to it, because I was too focused, and trying not to forget what I wanted to say.I saw Barron's lips forming an 'O', his expression turning into shock, then into fear.
"Adelle, look out..!"
He managed to say, but it came out as a whisper. His voice choked and full of fear.
I guess we all do that in a bizarre situation.I didn't know why, but I froze.
Then I felt myself hit the floor with a thud.To Be Continued..
