Chapter 80

After I was done with Aya and Basma -who was still all giggly- I decided that I should see where Rajwan is, and try to find out why was he acting weird.
I tracked down his phone..

Yes, I am that kind of sister. Well, I didn't have time to see where he was, he could be anywhere.
His bitmoji on Snapchat showed that he was somewhere between the 20-feet cliff, and the location itself.

It took me a moment to realize it.
The Spot.
Why didn't I think of it before ?
I walked to the spot, and stopped at some point, because I heard Rajwan's voice, all cracked with fear.
"Adelle's going to kill me.."

What ?
What did he do ?

I started walking over to him, and now that I'm close, I could see him clearly.
He was sitting on the bare ground, the laptop wide open in front of him, him running one hand through his hair in attempt to calm himself down.

"Rajwan ? What's wrong ?"
I asked quietly.
He looked up to me, and his eyes widened, standing up quickly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know.."
He said, panic in his voice.

I took a glance at the laptop, and what I saw shocked me.

Your files just got encrypted by an unknown source. To give you security and privacy, you can no longer have access to these files.

"What ? Rajwan, what did you do ?!"
His eyes shimmered with tears as anger rose inside me.
Wow, I'm such a jerk.
"I'm sorry..! I saw an article about something, and I wanted to read it, but then it happened. I don't know how..please believe me."

He spoke truthfully, distressed.
I sighed, exasperated, my eyebrows furrowing as I thought hard.
What should I do ? Everything we have is on that laptop.

Everything..
Including the two videos about Mars.
"But, the videos..what about them ? Are they gone, too ?"
He nodded stressfully, his expression upset.

"I don't know what happened, I swear.."
He seemed really upset.

I swear if it was his laptop he wouldn't be so upset.
Stop acting like a jerk, Adelle. Tell him that it's okay, look how his eyes are filled with tears.
I nodded at myself, then looked at my brother again.

"It's okay, don't worry. We'll sort this out."
He nodded, slightly shocked at my reaction. Because I would normally yell at him, and tell him to stay away from me for the rest of the day.
But it wasn't the time to do this.

"Come on, we have to get going."
He nodded at me, picking up the -now useless- laptop as we walked away from The Spot.

As we passed the great lawn, I saw Basma talking to someone. She noticed me, and called me over. I motioned to Rajwan to go back to the location as I headed over to her.

"Adelle, hey. This is the guy I told you about."
I looked up at the person.
Caleb.

"Caleb..? Oh, thank god !"
I hugged him quickly, then glanced at the two of my friends as they looked dreamily at each other.
"So she's your friend ? I didn't know."

Caleb asked, looking at me.
"Yup, she came here a few days ago, with other friends from Egypt."
I explained.
"However, I'll leave you two alone. Caleb, if you hurt her, I'll break your face."

Caleb chuckled.
"No, I won't."
I walked into the location, and saw Rajwan already on a table with others looking over his shoulders.
