"i guess there's certain dreams you gotta keep."

I had finally made my way to my seat which happened to be the front row above the dugout. My sister did this on purpose, I know she did. I sat down and instantly pulled out my phone, taking a pic of the field and posted it on social media.

"Hey, you're not supposed to be on your phone during the game." A voice called out. Looking up, I noticed it was Christian all dressed in his uniform and giving me a stupid silly smile. "You have to pay attention to the action. You'll miss me hitting some home runs." He said with a wink as I shook my head.

"What makes you so confident you're going to hit a home run today?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and eventually laughed.

Christian looked offended, gasping. "Are you doubting me?"

"I never said I was." I said, still smiling at him. "Go be with your team, you have a game to play. Don't worry about me."

Christian smiled and nodded. "If I hit a home run, I get to take you out." He said as he walked away and my heart started beating rapidly. Did he just say what I think he said?

---

My mind kept going over that sentence over and over again. Christian wasn't doing too hot, struck out the first time and then drew a walk his second time at bat. I could tell he was getting frustrated, and I just wish I was able to make him feel better.

He practiced his swinging off to the side as Yasmani was up to bat. I tried to get his attention, but nothing seemed to work.

As he stepped up to the plate, my attention was on him. He's one of their star players, maybe he's just hitting a slump.

"Let's go Christian!!" I cupped my hands over my mouth to project my voice as I cheered him on. He glanced over as he stepped off the plate to do a practice swing and gave me a small smile. Just like that, a spark came over him and he hit a home run. I cheered loud as he did a jog around the diamond and as he walked over to the dugout, looking up at me and gave me a wink as I smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up.

"If I hit a home run, I get to take you out." Was the sentence that repeated in my head as I came to realize that Christian was going to take me on a date. But, maybe he was just joking; He was known for being a prankster. Besides, I would be boring to go on a date with anyways.

--

After the game, I hung out in the break room with my sister and brother as they waited for the team to shower up and get their things together. Aspen looked over at me and gave me a smirk. "So, you and Christian were hitting it off, I heard?"

I shook my head. "No, we're just friends. We were just catching up. If Ryan told you that we were flirting, we weren't. I simply complimented him because I'm a nice friend." I said, fumbling with my hands.

Aspen didn't believe one word. "Oh yeah? Then how come I heard Christian say something about a home run and a date?" She rose an eyebrow at me, causing me to blush and look down.

"Was he serious, though? He could just be joking, Aspen. You know how Christian was; Always being a jokester..." I said as I could tell she was serious. "Besides, I would be boring to go on a date with. I haven't gone on a date with anyone for over a year, I would be an embarrassment." I said as Aspen widened her eyes and put her hands on my shoulders.

"Nadia, shut up! You are such an amazing person to hang out with. Obviously he's digging you if he wants to take you out. Christian doesn't just ask anyone. He's had girls try and flirt with him and he's really good at refusing. But, you're different, I think." She said as I glanced over and saw Christian walk in with a couple more teammates.

I got up and gave Christian a hug. "Good job today! You did amazing!" I said as I pulled back from the hug, still keeping my arms around him and looked up at him.

"Thanks. I think it was thanks to you." He said, looking at me. "I mean, I wasn't doing too hot at first, but I think hearing you cheer me on like how you used to in high school just gave me a boost of energy and adrenaline." He hugged me again, spinning me around.

I bit my lip as I looked up at him. "So, that date night...Were you serious?" I asked, moving my arms from around him.

Christian looked confused. "What? You thought I was joking? I wanna take you out, Nadia! Catch up, talk, hang out. I haven't seen my best friend in a while, I think it's only right to take her out. Plus, you're looking too beautiful to not ask you out." There the blushing was again.

"When and where is this date night, Yelich?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"I have off tomorrow. So we'll do it tomorrow night, I got a really good place we can go." He said as he took his hat off and put it on my head. "You still have my number, right? Just text me and we can talk more about it. I'll let you go home and get some rest." He hugged me again before he walked out with his teammates and Aspen came over by me squealing.

"NADIA!!" She exclaimed. "He totally was flirting with you!! And you're going on a date?!" She said, jumping up and down.

I shook my head, smiling. "Hey, it could just be a friendly date night." I shrugged. "I mean, it would be nice if it was a little bit more than a friendly date night..." I mumbled.

"What was that?" Aspen leaned in towards me, smiling. She poked the hat on my head as I just shook my head at her.

"I said nothing. Let's get home." I told her as I grabbed my keys and walked with her to her car.

My phone pinged and I pulled it out of my pocket to see who was texting me.

Christian: I think you're going to be my good luck charm.
