"all of the stars, you make them shine like they were ours."

-----------------------

The trip to California was definitely needed for the two of us; Milwaukee was just not the place we were used to, and I, myself was growing homesick.

After spending a couple nights with Christian's family, it was my turn to go see my family. My parents have no idea that I even am in California; I made sure that Aspen and Gage wouldn't spill anything. But, I know they're going to be excited to see me and Christian.

We approached the driveway and Christian got out of his car, walking over to my side and opened the door for me, taking my hand as I got out.

"Why thank you, kind sir." I said with a giggle.

"You're welcome, m'lady." He replied, laughing as well as we went in the house.

I knew my dogs would go nuts if they heard us come in, but the front door was quiet, so they would suspect nothing. I held my finger up to my lip as a sign for Christian to stay quiet as we walked into the kitchen, and my mom was preparing dinner.

"You're cooking grandma's pasta recipe and didn't even text me asking if I wanted some??" I asked, smiling big, waiting to see her reaction.

My mom jumped a little before turning around and set her stuff down, "Nadia Lane!!! Don't scare me like that!!" She exclaimed as she hugged me tightly; I missed her hugs so much..

"I'm sorry, mom! Won't do it again." I replied, as she pulled back and put her hands on my shoulders.

"What the hell are you doing here? And Christian's here too?!" She moved and hugged Christian as well; My parents were always a fan of Christian and loved how polite and nice he was. He was basically considered family when we both still lived in Cali.

I laughed, fixing my sweatshirt, "We just stayed a couple of nights at Christian's house and I thought I would come and surprise you, dad and Oliver!" My mother kissed my cheek and hugged me again. "I missed you, momma.." I said in almost a whisper as I rested my head on her shoulder.

She kind of swayed back and forth while she kept me in a hug, "I missed you, beautiful." She looked over at Christian, "And I of course missed this one! Last time I saw you, you weren't towering over me! How tall are you now? 6'4?"

"Nah, six foot two, but close!" Christian replied. "It's good to see you again as well, missed being here.."

"Nadia, your father is going to be so excited you're home! He's in the backyard with Oliver, but they'll be in soon. Your room hasn't really been touched, besides the time Oli decided to take your bed for a night. He said he likes how big it is and how he feels like he's on a cloud." My mom said, letting out a chuckle. "Oli's going to flip out when he sees one of his sisters is home..Speaking of siblings, how are Gage and Aspen? Treating you well? Because I'll come kick their asses if they--.."

"Mom," I cut her off, "They are great. Gage is constantly working as he's doing press and media for the Bucks now, Aspen is still working with Miller Park, but also has a part time job at Ulta where she's an assistant manager, and I have my job at Miller Park, but, trying to find another part time job so I can compensate for myself and move in with Christian and help pay the bills."

"Even though I told her she doesn't have to..." Christian butted in.

My mom moved hair out of my face, "I forgot you two were an item now...I totally called it." She said as I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "But, you want to move in with him?"

I nodded, looking over at Christian, then back at her, "Of course, momma! I love him very much, and I'm usually there anyways...I think we can handle it."
