4th League: Not Friends

THE NIGHT sky was filled with so many bright stars. The wind wasn't that cold nor it was warm. She was wearing a mint green, off shoulder dress paired with white stilettos.

Ryland's cousin wasn't much of a fan of grand parties. She liked cute and fluffy things. Kaya naman nag-stick na lang siya sa simple pero sosyal pa rin na party held in one of their resorts.

Ryland came, wearing a powder pink long sleeves and gray jeans. He looked so cute, that was undeniable.

"Wow, you look so beautiful, Iris," anang binata.

"Ang cute mo sa pink," nakangiting sabi ni Iris.

"Let's go." Ryland opened the car's door for Iris.

They had a smooth drive at hindi rin naman gano'n kalayo ang venue. Loud music could be heard from afar. They could see the lights going crazy from their spot. Everyone must be having fun.

Iris took her compact and look at herself on its mirror. There were a lot of people for sure and she had to look fine. She was a well-known internet celebrity. The venue was captivating. It looked fancy yet childish in a good way. Everything was pink and baby blue. It didn't look tacky in any way. She thought it was cute.

"Gwen!" Ryland called his cousin.

"Oh, hi, Ry! Are you with Iris?" she asked before looking at her. "Hi, Iris! I'm so glad you made it!" Nagbeso silang dalawa.

"I love your theme. Happy eighteenth birthday, Gwen!" Iris said.

"Okay, enjoy lang kayo, ha. I'll get back to you. I just have to check on some stuff," paalam ni Gwen.

"I like her, she's so humble," ani Iris.

"Yeah, probably my kindest cousin," Ryland agreed.

Naupo sila sa bakanteng upuan. Just like what she thought, Iris was immediately recognized by some celebrities. Binati niya rin naman ang mga ito.

The program started. Habang nagsasalita ang emcee sa gitna, the waiters started serving drinks.

"I'll just go to the restroom," Ryland excused himself. Iris just nodded.

Palinga-linga lang ang dalaga. One of the waiters served her a cocktail. She smiled and was about to thank him when she recognized his face.

"You..." Iris said.

"Ikaw..." sabi naman ni Travis.

"Do you work everywhere?" kunot-noong tanong ng dalaga sabay nag-iwas ng tingin.

It was her time to give him the cold shoulder.

She hated to think that Travis would act nice to her just because he was now made aware about her friendship with Elerie.

"Sige, balik na 'ko sa trabaho. Kung may kailangan ka nasa—"

"Whatever. Get out of my sight," bulong niya na sapat lang para marinig ni Travis.
