43rd League: The Old Friend
Seven years later.
IT WAS a bright sunny Saturday when Iris decided to take a walk outside. She had a lot to do in her office but she thought she needed a short break. She went to a nearby coffee shop to get herself a frappe. She chose the table next to the window where she could see the park.
She and her friend were listening to a song with earphones on.
Iris was not surprised. That band Sleepless Solitude was making such a huge name. They could be seen everywhere. Little did the fans know that the lead singer was once her lover.
Seven years had passed. Iris was sure enough that she had already moved on. After all, he deserved it. He'd been so hardworking ever since.
If she was to ask about how she felt everytime she was reminded of Travis, she thought she was just simply happy for him. During the past seven years, she made sure that she'd be very busy to keep herself preoccupied.
A woman suddenly entered the coffee shop. She was very familiar to Iris but she couldn't make sure for the woman was wearing aviators. Nang tanggalin ng babae iyon, Iris was so surprised.
"Trixie?" tawag niya.
For a moment, Trixie was confused.
You look so gorgeous!" ani Iris.
"Ayos lang, Ate Iris! Ang tagal na noong huli tayong nagkita! Na-miss talaga kita!" wika ni Trixie.
"Yes, it's been seven years. You've changed a lot. Mas lalo kang gumanda," puri ni Iris.
"Ikaw nga 'yon, Ate Iris! Ang blooming mo ngayon! May boyfriend ka na ba?"
"Hoy, wala! I'm so happy for you, Trixie," Iris commented.
"Sorry," she apologized. Nanatili lang na nakangiti si Iris.
"That's nice to hear. What course are you taking?" tanong ni Iris upang ibahin ang topic.
"Fashion Design, Ate Iris.
"Don't be so harsh on yourself. Your course suits you. Just love what you do and you'll be successful. I've heard they released a new single," Iris said. She wanted to prove something.
"You know, when your brother and I broke up, I had to close all of those accounts.
Parang 'yong bahay n'yo."
