Chapter Thirteen: Relationships

After a long day with Theo's family, it was time to get back to L.A. Theo and I said our goodbyes and made back to the airport. He held my hand and everyone took pictures but I don't mind. Apparently, we have our divergent fandom that ships us as Sheo.

"Hey princess?" He taps my shoulder.

I turn onto my side and snuggle in.

"Shai we got to talk." Theo says in a serious voice.

My stomach twists in knots and a big lump of nothing rises in my throat.

"What?" I gulp.

"Our relationship." He wiggles his eyebrows.

I fake a smile and think about it. The last boyfriend I had done something to me and left me broken. Never have I wanted to feel that way again.

"Are we going to tell the public?" I ask.

"If you'd like too. You're mine and only mine. " He kisses my lips quickly, leaving me hungry for more. Too bad we have an interview!

Then a vibration erupted in Theo's pocket so I pulled back.

"Babe, your phone." I smile.

He looks down and I see Ruth's name.

Her message says, "We can meet around 8 tonight. See you soon baby❤️"

I knew it! I knew I was some kind of toy in this stupid game. Out of all the people I never knew Theo would be the cheating type. How long has this been going on?

"You jerk. I knew it." I get off of his lap and slammed the bathroom door in his face. Too bad we are on a plane and have an interview in two minutes.

"Do not let a guy rip you apart again Shai!" I mutter to myself.

I walk out and keep my head held high. We sit down, waiting for the speaker.

"Shailene, I swear it's not what it looks like." He breathes.

"Theo, save it. We are better off friends anyways. Let's just move on alright?" I smile and hug him tightly.

It breaks my heart to keep my feelings to myself. Theo made me crazy and I thought we were in love. His face made me broken. They got watery and he wiped them quickly before the cameras were on. I took a deep breathe and went with the flow.

The interview was a breeze, but I could feel Theo's eyes melting into my mind. Almost as if he's searching for my secrets. Once we are finished I retreated back to my seat.

"Shai please tell me you're joking! Ruth and I weren't even trying anything. She keeps texting me and I tried blocking her! You can see for yourself." He gives me his phone.

I scroll through all his messages and realize he never did say anything except hey. I'm a terrible person and I don't deserve to be loved.

"I'm so sorry Theo." I wipe a tear from my cheek.

"Please be mine Shai." He grabs my hands.

I breathe and think.

My mind says to be friends and our friendship won't disappear.

But my heart says to fall in love with Theo, have faith and trust then I'll be fine.

So therefore I go with my mind because I can't ruin what we have with my own selfish needs.

"I'm sorry Theo, but no." I gulp and sniff, holding back my tears.

I kiss him with my heart, to say that this is our last kiss. He pulls me closer and won't let go. Our eyes meet and i realize it's time to get off the plane. I grab my bag and run out of the airport, away from my problems and my one true love; Theo James.
