Chapter Forty- Seven: The Text Message

Shailene's POV~

My mom and Theo's mom had came to visit, both of them clearly in love with Luna. Our daughter was comfortable with others and didn't cry much. After tomorrow, our family will leave and go back to our apartment. I have a month off, I could have had more yet I wanted to give it my all in Allegiant.

"Luna, baby girl! Ready to change into your first outfit?" I lay her down on the changing table.

Theo is napping on his lounge chair, trying to keep up on his sleep. We are now a team for our daughter and I want him to keep his energy up, even if it does mean me being at my breaking point.

Luna is 5 pounds and 4 ounces, therefore she does fit in newborn clothes. I carefully grabbed a pink onesie that says, "Daddy's Little Princess" and a pair of white pants. Theo insisted to put a white bow on her head to show her little hair on top of her head.

After changing her into fresh clothes and a diaper, Luna was clearly hungry. I lifted my shirt up and let Luna feed. Meanwhile, my phone went off and I checked to see I had received a text message.

The person who texted me was my ex-boyfriend, Lucas. He was my first love in high school and it took me a while to get over him. After meeting Theo, I had forgotten all about him.

"Shai, is everything alright?" Theo had woken up and picked Luna up.

I decided not to tell him about the text message because it would bring back my horrible Senior year. I regret so much and wish I could go back. For now, it's the past.

"Yes, everything's fine. Hopefully we can get through one more night and we will leave tomorrow morning!" I smile, returning to my phone.

Luna leans onto Theo's shoulder, sucking on her hand and gurgling. I just want to return home and relax with my family.

But the text message keeps ringing through my head and it's hard to forget about it.

Lucas: I think we should meet up sometime and talk about what happened on that cold December night. You left me and I spent three years in jail. You owe me.

Theo's POV~

The next morning I had let Shai stay with the baby while I set up the carseat with her brother Tanner. I'll be driving on the way home and Shai will sit in the back. I'm happy that we can finally settle in as a family in our home.

"Last thing is to check if the seat clicks in the base." Tanner reads the directions and I listen.

Once I heard the click, it was clear to say that the carseat was safe and the hospital can double check it. We return to the hospital room where Shai is dressed in her regular clothes and Luna in a light blue dress.

"There's my baby girl!" I pick up Luna and kiss her cheek, making her gurgle.

"The hospital said we can leave when we are ready and thanks Tanner for helping." Shai hugs her brother and grabs the diaper bag.

I give Luna her pacifier and set her into her seat to buckle her up. After buckling her up and putting a blanket on top of her, we were set to go.

I turn to look at Shai, she looks like she's thinking hard about something. She keeps eyeing her phone and her nose kept scrunching up when she is confused.

"Everything okay with you babe?" I pull her close and she looks up into my eyes.

"Everything's perfect. We are finally going home." She smiles and puts her phone into her purse.

I pick up the seat and Shai carries our bags down to the car. Everything was packed up and we can finally calm down with our own little family.
