Sanem returned to her house after the fire was put out. Apparently, the fire was caused by something electrical. She was getting herself a glass of water when Can knocked on her door. She told him to come in. Can had his jacket sleeve rolled up and that's when she noticed the burn on his forearm. She told him to take his jacket off and run cold water over his burn. She whipped up some Aloe Vera cream to apply to his burn, once he was done running cold water over it. She patted his arm dry and told him to apply the cream. Can asked her to do it, because he was unable to. Sanem nodded and applied the cream to his burn. She then wrapped his arm with gauze and taped it. Can thanked her for her help. He headed for the door, but Sanem stopped him. She asked him where he would be staying now since the hut burned down. Can smiled and told her he would find a place. Sanem offered her spare room to Can if he wanted it. Can immediately said yes, if it was no problem. Sanem said it was no problem. Can told her thank you. Sanem helped him wrap his arm in plastic so the bandage would not get wet, then Can headed to the shower. Sanem threw Can's clothes in the wash to get the smoke smell out of them. Unknown to Can, Sanem kept a few of his belongings before Emre, Leyla and she moved out of the house that was sold. She took those clothes to the spare bedroom and laid them on the bed.
Can found the clothes on the bed, when he exited the bathroom. He had no idea what he was going to wear since all of his belongings were destroyed in the fire. He smiled because she actually kept some of his things. He put the clothes on and went in search of Sanem. He found her making coffee in the kitchen. She smiled and asked if he wanted a cup of coffee. He said yes, please. She took her cup to the living area and Can followed her. Can told Sanem he appreciated her letting him stay there. He promised to not get in her way. Sanem told him it was OK. She was just sorry he lost everything. Can told her he was able to save the most important thing to him. Sanem remembered her bandanna he carried out of the fire. Sanem told him he would have to go buy more clothes tomorrow. She kept most of what was left before they vacated the house, but there wasn't a lot. Can told her thank you for saving some of his things. He would go into town tomorrow to see what else he could get. Sanem told him she was going to turn in for the night. She told him to make himself at home. Can thanked her and told her good night.
A few hours later, Can could not sleep, so he got out of bed. He went to the kitchen for a glass of water. He heard crying and talking coming from Sanem's room. He walked to her door and opened it. He found her thrashing in the bed calling his name....yelling for him to come back. Can knew she was having one of her nightmares. He sat down beside her and gently called her name. She eventually woke up and saw him. She said Can. He told her it was OK. She was having a nightmare. Sanem said it wasn't a nightmare. It was the fire and it was real. She was still crying and shaking. Can got her a glass of juice. Sanem drank a little. She then threw her arms around Can and he held her. After a while, Sanem released her. He asked if she was OK. She nodded. He asked her if she wanted to talk about it. She said it was the fire and watching him run inside the burning hut. He never came back out. He told her he came back out. He was here right in front of her. Sanem nodded. Can told her he would let her get back to sleep. She grabbed his hand. She asked Can if he would please stay with her tonight. She said she knew it was asking a lot, but she needed him beside her tonight. Can told her sure. Sanem scooted over and Can turned off the night. He climbed in the bed beside Sanem. She scooted over to him and laid her head on his chest like she used too. Can put his arms around her and it finally felt like he was home again. They both fell asleep rather quickly.
The next morning when Sanem woke up, she found herself wrapped in Can's arms with her head on his chest. She smiled. This felt so right just being back in her husband's arms. She continued to lay there just enjoying the warmth of his body. Unknown to Sanem, Can had woke up before her and he continued to lay still just enjoying his wife being back in his arms again. God how he loved this woman. He could not stop himself, so he reached out his hand and started running his fingers through her hair. He used to play with her hair all the time. Sanem turned her head and looked up at him. She said good morning. Can told her good morning. He asked how she slept and if she had anymore nightmares. Sanem said she slept like a baby and she had no more nightmares. She told him thanks for staying with her. Can smiled and said it was his pleasure. Sanem reached up and gently kissed him on the lips. Can kissed her back but he made no move to touch her with his hands. He was letting her go at her own pace. Sanem deepened the kiss and Can let her. She lifted her mouth and stared into his eyes. She asked Can if she crossed the line. Can told her no, she hadn't. Sanem kissed him again and this time Can wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. They kissed until they came up for air. Sanem told him she missed kissing him. Can said he missed it too. Sanem told him she wanted to make love with him, but she didn't think she was ready for that step yet. Can told her he understood. He asked if she had been with anybody in the year he was gone. Sanem told him...she couldn't. They were still married, and it would not have felt right. She asked if he had been with anyone in the year he was gone. Can told her no. He told her he thought of her everyday while he was gone. He told her he could never be with someone else. Sanem smiled at him. She told him she had to get up. She had a few children coming over for story time. Can said OK. He gave her a quick kiss and got out of bed. They both got dressed for the day. Sanem went out to get ready for the children and Can went to sit on his father's balcony that overlooked Sanem's yard. He was ready more of the book she wrote. He read a few pages everyday and then reread them. He was memorizing her book.
