EPISODE 59

One year later

Ates was two-years old now. Business was booming at the agency. Leyla and Emre now had a son who they named Ismail. Can and Emre had a day care center added to the agency, where Ates and Ismail spent their day while their parents worked. Leyla and Sanem were able to check on their sons throughout the day. Just like Can and Sanem, Leyla and Emre now shared an office together right next door to Can and Sanem. Deren and Bulut were engaged to be married. Bulut joined Metin's law firm and they were now partners. Everything seemed to be working out for everyone.

Can and Sanem were in a meeting with a potential new client. They were still waiting for another member to arrive. He was stuck in traffic and was running behind schedule. Soon, there was a knock on the door and Deren announced the arrival of the missing member. A young man walks in, apologizing for being late. Can stands up to introduce himself and shake his hand. He introduces himself as Selim. Can introduces Sanem as his wife and Sanem goes to shake his hand. Selim looks at Sanem and yells her name. Sanem just looks at him. She was confused at first. Then she recognized him from elementary school. She yells back his name. She threw her arms around him and gave him a big hug. They started talking at once. Can was standing there confused over what was transpiring between his wife and this Selim fellow. Sanem looked at her husband and told him she went to elementary school with Selim. Can smiled at his wife but he did not like all this hugging going on. Can asked if they could start the meeting now. Sanem looked at him strangely and said of course.

After the meeting, Sanem and Selim stayed in the conference room to catch up with each other. Can stormed out of the conference room. He needed air, so he went outside and took a walk to clear his head. He knew he should not be jealous when his wife runs across old school friends, but he could not help it. His arms should be the only ones wrapped around his wife. He wonders if this was how his wife felt when women like Polen, Arzu, Ceyda and Ayca threw themselves at him. It was definitely not a good feeling. He walked and walked. He had no real destination in mind. He just needed to breathe in the fresh air. Sanem was calling his cell phone but he did not answer. He needed to get his mind clear before he talked to his wife. She called again and again. She sent several text messages, but he did not answer those either. He did not want to talk to her until he calmed down. It would just cause more problems for him and Sanem. When his mind was clear, he turned around and headed back to the agency. He stopped at the daycare. He needed to feel his son in his arms. Ates was sitting on the floor playing with blocks when Can arrived. Ates saw him and yelled da da. Can picked his son up and hugged and kissed him. Ates gave him a slobbery kiss on the cheek which made Can giggle. He put his son back down so he could continue playing. Can went upstairs to his office.

Sanem was not in the office when he arrived. Can went to ask Emre and Leyla if they knew where Sanem had gone. Emre said she headed out for lunch with Selim. Can walked back to his office. He was steaming all over again. He went back to Emre's office and asked if he could Sanem a ride home after work. He was going to pick up Ates and head home. He wasn't feeling the greatest. Emre told him of course. Emre told him if he wanted, he could leave Ates in the daycare and he would bring him home too. Can thought for a minute and told him that sounded OK to him. Can left the agency, got in his truck and headed out. He didn't feel like going home, so he just drove. He ended up on the coast. He parked his truck and got out. He walked along the coast, feeling the sea breeze on his face. He sat down on a bench and looked out over the sea. He could not understand why he was feeling this way. He has never felt this jealous over his wife before. He felt like he was losing control of himself. He felt like he was losing his wife. He felt like he was losing control of his life and everything he has built with Sanem. He knew deep down he was probably overreacting, but he could not stop the thoughts going through his head. If this was how Sanem felt long ago, then it totally sucked. He had put her through all this confusion and now he was suffering from it.
