"you're talking to me like I've never picked up a basketball" Cole had dragged me into the empty sports hall straight after my last class. My original plan was to head to the airport and go see Gary but I found Cole waiting for me.
"When you're standing next to me, that's what you are," He said lifting his jumper off from around his shoulders and throwing it to the nearest bench.
He started to dribble the ball between his legs, clearly showing off
"you need to let off some steam Alexis, this is the perfect way to do it," He said passing me the ball which I easily caught. I started to bounce the ball in front of me.
"Pretty sure this is your kind of therapy, not mine Cole" I rolled my eyes at him. How original. Could he seriously not think of something that suited me.
He stood back watching me. He urged me to try and shoot. I breathed in deeply and aimed for the hoop. Maybe if I score this first time I can convince him to let me go.
I watched the ball fly through the air hitting the back wall before bouncing off missing the hoop completely. I watched Cole but he gave nothing away all he did was give me his serious face.
Taking a few steps forward I bounced the ball again trying for a second time but it actually looked worse. Just my luck.
"This stupid ball" I groaned bending down to pick it back up. Cole must be able to see that his plan was backfiring because it was only making me more stressed than before.
I tried one last time, hoping that three was the charm.
Clearly, in my case, it wasn't because the ball bounced on the hoop before dropping to the side. As soon as the ball came my way I picked it up and threw it against the wall.
Cole instantly grabbed it in his hands. I watched him walk towards me, he stood behind me as he put the ball back in my hands.
" you're not even thinking, you're just throwing it and hoping it goes in" he shook his head. "That's the whole point," I said to him. My bad mood increasing by the second.
He didn't like that answer at all. The next minute I felt him come close to my back and position his arms around me and stepped forward.
"I don't need your damn moves Cole" I could see where this was going. I had seen too many cliche movies and read too many teen fiction books.
He stepped away grinning to himself. He was just doing that to piss me off and by god, it was working.
Cole soon accepted defeat and let me stop this stupid therapy that he was hell bent on. Now we sat down on the court as I tied up my laces on my boots.
"you can't come with me Cole" I said to his stupid question. Why did he think it was even an option in the first place.
Cole looked somewhat offended and I won't deny it, it did pull at my heart strings a little more than I would have liked.
"why not" he asked me.
I stood up. "Because its personal and I can't be babysitting you there" I said getting even more annoyed now.
He raised his eyes to me before bursting out into horrible fits of laughter.
"what guys have you been hanging it out with, I don't need to be babysat Alexis I can take care of myself, that's hilarious though" he passed his finger under his eyes. Actual tears coming out.
He was a real goofball when he chose to be. Something that I didn't see much with him.
" Are you happy now, you finally got it out of me can I go now" I said staring at him, I really needed to get going if I wanted to catch the next flight.
