PEACE OUT
It was weird how the weekend seemed to go so fast. Maybe that's just how time is is. Or maybe it's because I spent most of my Sunday sleeping soundly, due to Jane not throwing rocks at my window. Yeah, she didn't come, but at that moment I was too tired to care. But now walking in the cold rainy weather, I had a different approach.
I honesty can't figure her out; she can be so strong-willed and cold, she laid it on the line, but at the same time you could never tell if she was fond of you or not. My mind was going insane just thinking about it.Bonnie was waiting for me outside her house, so it freed me from my own thoughts. She wanted me to meet her new 'fella' only he was ill today (coincidence?) so I'd have to wait. That, and he doesn't like his photo taken. But that didn't stop her from droning on about him all the way to the school gate. I get it, it's the honeymoon period, but do you really have to tell me every little detail, even repeating yourself at times? So when Bonnie waved goodbye at me and scurried off to her form, I found myself more relieved than sad.
The rain was starting to bother me, so I started to make my way to form. The only guy in there was... Nick. Ha, ha, sweet irony. He hadn't realized I was outside yet, and for a brief second I wondered if it was best to just slowly tip toe past the room, away from sight. But that would be ridiculous; I'd be shredding my dignity, or what's left of it anyway. It wasn't that Nick was weird or anything. Or anything.
"Hey," he said, as I soon as I'd closed the door, which was my only escape. Great.
"Hi." Well, this was awkward, and for once it wasn't entirely my fault.
"How's that maths thing going along?"
"Wha - oh, it's great." If great meant we had barely even started to plan out our design, despite the fact that the deadline was lingering near, yeah it was going 'great'.
"I know you're lying." I forgot that I was a bad liar. Especially when I was around people who made me nervous.
"Yeah, I am." I said, sighing slightly. "Nick, look I can't stand how things have changed between us. We're still friends, right?"
"Yeah, I guess." He looked... Confused? That and his eyes were misty; a clear sign that he was upset about something.
"What's up?" Nick seemed to be startled by my question. He gave me a look, his eyes searching mine, before hanging his head down and rubbing the back of his neck.
"Ask my uncle. He knows everything."
"Huh?"
"My uncle's being an asshole again. Like always."
I was pretty surprised by this as I can't imagine Pets being an asshole. Sure he was a little harsh at times, but overall, he was a sweet man who just wanted his nephew to understand life, not the sheltered one that some parents introduce their kids into. I remember when I was younger, and I used to resent this kind of parenting. Now, I'm not so sure...
"What happened?"
"He's forcing me to hunt," Nick's eyes searched mine for a bit (for sympathy?) "I almost got shot him, or at least that's what he says. He's still holding it against me."
"Haven't you apologised?"
"Ain't speaking to him. He tries to make me kill a buck and ends up killing it himself, showing it off. It's fucking annoying."
