PEACE OUT
He didn't looked scared, panicked or angry. He actually seemed relatively calm if anything, though it was obvious that something was bothering him.
"How was work?" Carly asked, her gaze fixated solely on the TV. It was on static since neither of us had managed to find the battery. That and we were laughing so hard that we wore ourselves out. I had probably missed half of my show by now, but somehow it all seemed worth it.
"Stressful. Their lack of passion for history kinda pissed me off..." He replied, looking slightly defeated.
"Well I guess you'll have to deal with me now then," she smiled, which restored Dad's too.
"What did you want to talk about?" I chipped in.
"I need to talk to you... " he glanced up at Carly, who had still set her attention on the static buzzing. How it didn't irritate her I will never know.
"... In private." He finished, which managed to get Carly's attention. She shifted on the couch, raising an eyebrow in question.
"It's nothing major," he reassured her, "just family... Business."

"So, what do you think of her?" Dad asked, as soon as he'd closed the bedroom door.
"She seems pretty nice, but she's rubbish with batteries..."
"Yeah... I don't think she can handle those..." He whispered playfully, and I had to cover my mouth with both hands to prevent me roaring out loud.
"So what did you want to talk to me about then?" I asked.
Dad sighed. He reached for his phone out of his pocket, dangling it in my reach. It didn't make sense to me. Not at first at the least. That is until I looked closely; a name popped up, one that I knew too well, one that I wish I didn't know...
"Mom..." My voice was croaking, and my throat suddenly felt dry.
"She wants to see you..." Dad began, obviously aware of my discomfort.
"I don't care..." I muttered so quietly, I had some trouble hearing it myself. My throat was swelling up, slowly shrinking around my tongue. I could feel the dry roughness of my oesophagus snaking its way towards my mouth, which only made me gag more...
"And so does your granddad..." He continued, oblivious to what I had just said.
"I don't care," I repeated, loud enough for Dad (and maybe even Carly) to hear.
"I don't care now, and I never will, so you might as well just stop. She's can try all she wants, she'll always be dead to me..."
Dad's wide mouth and significant raise of eyebrows signified his disbelief. I don't know why he's giving me that look; she's not exactly a saint in his eyes either.
"Ashley! You don't mean that! She's your mother, whether you like it or not, so you might as well make an effort - "
"Stop! Just stop!" I screamed, literally on the verge of tears. I don't think I've ever felt this vile about a person. I can literally feel acid seeping into my stomach, giving me awful cramps, or maybe it's just all in my head. Maybe that's where all the hate is stored, rotting my brain, slowly dissolving my iq, to the point where I can't even think straight...
"Ashley, just give her a - "
"The walking dead is on?! Coming Carly!"
