It took me a moment to fully absorb what had just been said. The words hit me like shards of glass, slicing into my skin and piercing my heart. I felt my vision go blurry as my drunken after effects seemed to have kicked in, making me feel incredibly sick and weak. But physically? Or maybe I was finally emotionally exhausted. And for a while I just stood there, too stunned to move. When I finally did, I found myself clutching onto a pole, as of my life depended on it. Maybe it did. Maybe I had truly, finally gone through enough. Maybe this was where the last few shreds of insanity lay.

I waited until the room stopped spinning, and the detail in the objects could be obtained. I slowly spun round to face Dad, who was ultimately failing to obtain my eye contact. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing other than scratchy rasps came out.

"Wha --- Is... Is it true?" I spluttered out and I watched in agony as my dad slowly turned away.

"Well?" my mom chipped in, and by the tone in her voice, I could tell that she was enjoying this. Watching my dad supposedly ruin our relationship. I say 'supposedly' because I tried to obtain a glimmer of hope. Because I quite honestly couldn't believe it.

I barey heard the murmur while my heart began to slowly beat faster and louder, almost feeling as if it was going to pop out of my body at any given time. The curtains that held the hope were slowly closing, along with my faith for humanity. For life at all.

"Sorry... You might want to repeat that..." mom snarled, and if it wasn't for my emotionally exhausted state, I wouldn't of hesitated at the oppurtunity to physically throttle her. I could already picture her; face pale and cheeks bloated and red. Her hands locked onto my arms, desperatly trying to unlock her fate that would ultimatley be her inevitable death. She'd let out one last breath, before falling to her knees, and it would all be over. The harm, the suffering, everything.

"It's true." He stated, confirming my worst fears. I heard a gasp being exchanged and I looked up to see Carly, hand on mouth. To say that she was shocked would quite frankly be a major understatement. Her eyes gazed onto mine, her expression still fresh. And it was like we both just froze in time at that point, too stunned to do anything else. It was only when I felt the first few tears threaten to prick at my eyes that I had to abandon my frozen state. I felt my arm rub away at my eye as the first tear began to drip down onto my cheek. It was then that I felt Carly's warm comforting arms wrap themselves around my body. Aside from the extreme shaking, I actaully felt relativley safe. For once.

I looked over to mom. She was trying to look disappointed, but she wasn't fooling me; it was a sensational moment for her, the moment that she had finally managed to sever our realtionship. Her patheic facade didn't fool me for a second.

Dad himself looked as if he was in another world himself. His eyes were glued to the ground, and he had seemed to have blocked out any other surroundings (aka, us).

And for a moment it stayed this way. The awkward tension, the discomforting silence, that ever-building suspense as to who would dare to break the silence. And then it happened... But from the unexpected.

"Jesus, Lee! Were you ever going to get round to telling me that? You... you've got a little girl with you!" It was her voice if anything that stunned me the most. She didn't sound like herself at all... She sounded... Shaken up... Nervous... Insecure... So if her goal was to sound stern or intimidating she had failed miserably.

But it had seemed to work for dad. He suddenly snapped out of his little world, returning back to earth. He began to approach Carly and I, raising his hands in defence, before brining back down to attempt a get a hug. Carly jumped and shifted at the last minute, fortunatley taking me with her. Dad looked suddenly defeated and betrayed by her actions, but honestly had no right to. Not after what he did. Or supposedly. NO GET REAL WHAT HE DID...
