Yet again I've been caught. Yet again I've been ambushed. There really isn't a significant difference between the two. I have to say that I am disgusted at the fact that they used a dog to ambush me. I guess they feel the need to do pretty much anything to get what (or who) they want, even if means to stooping to such low acts. I wouldn't be surprised if the dog was somewhat trained to act like this.
I was yet again led into a thick bush, the kind that parents protect their kids from by all means due to suspicious drug dealing going on. Of course, my fate in this forest will be a lot worse.
"Now Ashley, you look like a smart girl. I'm going to ask you a couple of questions, and then you can go. No harm intended if you cooperate. Clear?"
I looked down at my bloody hand. The bleeding had gone down a bit, and new scar was beginning to for,. Great just great. How am I going to explain this to dad?
"No harm done. Ok, fine explain this," I said, thrusting my arm in his face.
Carver smiled a bit. The next part was kind of a blur, but I do remember somehow finding myself on the floor, my cheek burning, as well as some piggy laugh. Oh, Troy
"YOU DONT WANNA TEST ME GIRL! I'LL PASS EVERY TIME!"
Oh great. Lying at this point would be impossible. Ok, hiding a bite mark on your hand isn't completely impossible, but my face? Ha... Ha...
"I thought you said you wouldn't hurt me." It didn't come out the way I'd expected. I thought I'd sound like a triumphant warrior as if I was taking Carver on. I sounded like a little girl instead.
"I said if you cooperate. Listen, the sooner you answer the questions, the sooner you can go. Otherwise we'll have to make things more difficult. Your choice."
I intended to go for option number two, but my arm and cheek spoke otherwise.
"I'm sorry." I heard myself say, though I had no idea why I was saying this. Shouldn't he be saying this me?
"It's okay honey. Well just chalk it up as a lesson learnt alright?"
"Don't call me honey!"
"Do you want me to give you another one? Or would you prefer Troy to do the honours. Or keep that damn mouth shut."
I kept quiet.
"Good, good, your learning. Now, where's Rebecca at? And don't tell me you don't know, I have my sources."
"Who?"
Carver just smiled and tapped his nose. "None of your business. Now back to my question, Rebecca?"
"Why are you so interested?"
"We have history, you understand? It's complicated."
"Well, it's not my business to tell you. I don't want to betray my friends. They trust me and I trust them."
Carver just raised his eyebrow. "You've known those people for a couple months. I've known them for years and here's one little fact about them... They don't trust people easily. And chances are if you were stuck in a sticky situation they would be the last people to help. Yet when the tables are turned, they'll expect you to save them."
I didn't have anything to say to that.
"People will betray you in any means possible and make all sorts of bullshit excuses about it."
"..."
"Happens every time."
"Can I go now?" I asked. My fear of Carver was beginning to fade and I was just plain bored.
