Jane and I spent the majority of PE coming up with a plan. We weren't getting very far though, until one of us (hint, hint) mentioned the party.
Jane's brain lit up then. We came up with a plan to sell random junk at the party, because they'll all be 'off their heads' as Jane calls it. And as anyone knows being 'off your head' means that you tend to do all kinds of crazy stuff - take it from me. My next door neighbour would occasionally get drunk, usually when he had an off day. He would mouth that most hilarious shit, but he was a solid friend. The kind that was loyal no matter what. I miss him, a lot. But anyway, it would also give Jane the opportunity to make a little extra cash for I dunno... Maybe for the first ever leather jacket that was actually going to be bought? And me the opportunity to maybe... Pay back Matthew. Not that I have to but... Yeahhh, actually I do.
"So it's settled, then." She smiled, as I handed her my spare leaflet. I might as well give it to her anyway, there wasn't really anyone else I could think of who needed it as much as Jane did. And quite frankly, I'm probably the only person who actually considered giving it to her anyway, she isn't exactly... Friendly...
"Yeah. It's tomorrow I think? I'll have to check with Bonnie."
"Okay." She replied, her neutral expression suddenly positively transforming. "And thank you Ash, for not... Giving up on me --- just yet."
"Yet?"
"Well..." She finished and I had to smile. Jane would never be the huggy, nice bestie-material kind of friend, but that was fine by me. It was actually beneficial if anything; somehow she reminded me that not all things are rosy and sweet, and from what I had experienced in life, I could get carried away with the fairies. She kept me down on earth, in reality. And I couldn't criticise her for that.
The bell rang to mark the end of the hour. I quickly changed, ironically in the same stall. The window was still open and air was ice cold. I could've sworn I could see my breath seeping out of my mouth as I exhaled. The air was beginning to slowly numb my ability to talk, walk --- function. I needed pain, any just ---
"OWWWW!" I yelped like a baby. I heard a snide laugh that can only be identified as Jane's.
"What are you --- ?" And then I saw her little present dangle in front of me.
"Versatility is not overrated."
"You 'little' shit."

"How are you?" I asked Rebecca, my arm around her shoulder. Her stomach seemed to doubled in size, and that could only mean one thing...
"I'm, I'm managing, but I can feel it kicking, Ashley. It's coming --- soon... Ahhh!" She lurched forward in pain and I stepped in front to stop her falling on her face. I watched her mood flourish through her the twinkly of her eyes.
"Thanks, Ashley. God it's so hard being dependent on everyone..."
"Isn't it always..." I agreed.
"Huh, yeah. I'm scared Ash, like truly scared not just for the baby but --- "
"Whatever happens, you'll meet someone new." I finished, patting her back in a bid to comfort.
My words seemed to have the exact opposite effect intended. "No --- it's not the baby that worries me it's who's --- "
"What?" And I got my answer in a pretty harsh attempted nudge. And when that didn't work, a glare seemed to work just fine...
"There's my man!" She exclaimed. Alvin grinned acknowledgingly, leaning in to --- to.
Ugh. Ew. Nah... C'mon... C'MON...
"Ashley! Over here!" I heard Nick call out, and I suddenly realise that he's holding his phone. Wait... Why is he holding his --- ?
