SENA
Aside from the working engine, the sound of blowing wind was all I could hear. We were on our way to one of the places in the city where three malls are built near each other. Glen preferred for Glen Squad to handle this matter alone but the Lieutenant General has different plans.
At hindi ko alam kung anong pumasok sa isip n'ya para ipasama ang Gwen at Terrence Squad sa amin. Naiintindihan ko pa yung ibang squad pero sila? They're new.
Ni hindi nga sa kanila yung weapons na dala nila ngayon, with the exception of Gwen's and Terrence'. I'm not even sure if they could stand against vampires.
"Break the glass doors or pick the lock?" Narinig kong tanong ni Ivan galing sa radio na nasa harap ko.
"Pick the lock." Sagot ni Senri.
"Break the fucking glass. Mas mabilis 'yon."
Hindi ko napigilang mapairap sa sinabi ni Glen. Impatient as always. Buti nalang nabawasan na.
"Seriously guys?" Natatawang sabi ni Vera.
"We can also check the delivery area. Baka naiwan pa na bukas yun. So stop thinking of ways that's similar to a thief sneaking in, you idiots."
Sabay namang nagreklamo si Ivan at Senri sa sinabi ni Leni at dahil sa ingay nila hindi ko napigilang kuhain yung radio sa harap.
"May I remind the five of you na hindi lang tayong anim ang nagkakarinigan." Sabi ko sa kanila na ikinatahimik nila.
It was fine if it was only the Gwen and Terrence Squad since we've been training them. And they knew that we don't call each other by our ranks unlike the other squads. But we have about seven or eight other squads with us.
Puro mga hindi pa nakakakilala sa amin. I can even imagine their shocked faces. Imagine a First Lieutenant calling the Captain and Lieutenant Colonel an idiot. It's unimagineable for the other soldiers who rarely encounters us.
Although it's mainly me and Glen who they don't encounter because of the Lieutenant General's concern for the welfare of the trainees. Kulang na lang tambakan n'ya kami ng paperworks na halos katumbas ng tatlong buwan para hindi kami umalis sa mansion.
"I guess it's a good thing I brought these earpieces?"
Napahawak na lang ako sa noo ko dahil sa sinabi ni Vera. I can see her smiling face. Ugh.
"Good fucking job. Now observe the surroundings. Marami tayong sagabal na kasama."
Sasawayin ko pa lang sana si Glen pero sabay-sabay na isinigaw ng apat yung pangalan n'ya. Kaya napatanggal ako sa earpiece dahil sa lakas.
"Sena—I mean Major Sena! Wala ka bang balak pagsabihan ang Lieutenant Colonel?"
Taas kilay akong lumingon sa labas ng bintana at nakita si Ivan na nasa likod ng manibela ng isa sa mga military vehicle namin.
"Cleansing his vocabulary is impossible. Filtering pa lang ang hirap na." Malakas na sabi ko dahil medyo nasasapawan ng hangin at vehicle engine yung boses ko.
"I HEARD THAT!"
Sa bintana sa side ng driver naman ako napalingon at nakita ko si Glen na nagd-drive din. Yung dalawang member ng Terrence Squad na si Ana and Jean, if I remember it right, todo siksik sa sandalan dahil tumungo si Glen para makita ako.
"I know." Sabi ko at ngumisi.
"You guys can sit comfortably." Sabi ko kila Joshua at Aaron na kasama ko.
