I should've ran home that night.
Pinagsisihan ko yung hindi ko pagtakbo pauwi nung gabing yun. Dahil hindi nawala sa isip ko hanggang sa mission ko. I got distracted to the point that I almost died!
Countless what-ifs ran through my mind for all those days despite facing the danger of getting killed by an old First Class Vampire or a Royal Class Vampire within the 90 to 100 ranks. And even now as I sit in the cabin of the train on the way back to Rubellite, I'm thinking of those what-ifs.
What if he can accept me?
What if what I am won't matter to him?
What if he'll reject me?
What if he wouldn't like it if he finds out I'm his mate?
Napasabunot na lang ako sa buhok ko dahil sa mga naiisip ko. Sakto namang tumigil na sa Capital ng Rubellite yung train kaya bumaba na ako. Bitbit yung suitcase kung nasaan yung mga gamit ko ay lumakad na ako papunta na sa bahay. Pero nang makarating ako doon ay hindi ko inaasahang may carriage na nasa tapat ng bahay namin.
"Miss Senara Allister, glad you could make it." Sabi ng Coachman na mukhang kanina pa naghihintay.
"Make it to what?" Tanong ko.
"The ball. General Nakatomi wants to see you there tonight if you made it."
Kunot na kunot yung noo ko panigurado pero biglang bumukas yung gate namin at ang sunod ko na lang na naalala ay hinatak ako ng mayordoma namin sa loob hanggang sa kwarto ko. Tinulak pa ako sa banyo para maligo ako at mabilis nila akong inayusan.
Then I was left with no choice when I was already within the academy. Mula sa kinatatayuan ko ay rinig na rinig ko yung piano, violin, at cello na tumutugtog.
Walang tao sa hallways dahil paniguradong nasa grand hall yung mga tao.
"Senara," rinig kong tawag ni Mom.
And when I looked at her, gone was the black and gold Founder uniform of the Ruby Imperial Army. She was wearing a blue gown with her hair up.
"You look absolutely beautiful, Senara. Come on."
I couldn't complain when Mom pulled me to where the grand hall was. Heads turned as soon as we entered and I kept my head down until we reached a table. Mom once again, pulled me to take a seat.
Eyes bore unto me that I didn't dare to look up.
"Champagne, ma'am?"
Doon lang umangat yung ulo ko at tiningnan ko si Mom na tumango kaya tinanguan ko yung waiter.
Funny that I'm 20 but I'm still asking for my Mom's permission to drink even a champagne.
"I should've put Veronica's mission on hold if I knew that Senara could make it." General Nakatomi sighed which broke the silence of the occupants of the table. "But how did it go?"
I sat straight and cleared my throat before I began to tell what happened. And I could sense that it's not only the people in the table who are listening but also those who are nearby.
"You got away unscathed from what I can see. That's good." General Gillies complimented.
Hearing that, I averted my gaze which didn't slip by General Del Valle.
"What is it?" General Del Valle inquired that made all the Generals and tables close to us look at me.
"I...didn't exactly got away unscathed." I hesitantly said and Mom whipped her head to my direction as quick as a lightning strike.
