"Every story has its cast, they are the pillars in making it successful" Aiyla
Jamal... It couldn't be... He's not meant to be in the country...
"Jamal? Jamal Saeed?" Ruha asked stunned
Adda Salma nodded her head "of course, he and granny are coming for the summer"
"Two months? They are staying for two month" Ruha asked
"Apparently"
"Please why wasn't I told?" Ruha asked. It would have given her time to prepareAdda Salma rolled her eyes "because you my darling are always locked up in your room doing only Allah knows what" she snapped clearly annoyed. She and Amma's kids never clicked, they didn't like her at all and she didn't care at all. Jamal is her cousin from her dads side, her once upon a time best friend who moved to Egypt almost a decade ago, she hasn't heard from him in years and now, he's back, no notice, nothing
She finished eating though she lacked appetite and stood up and walked away from the table. She was excited to see her grandmother again, ever since they moved to Kano all those years ago, she hasn't seen her, she is after all the reason they moved to Kano
She opened her phone with her facial recognition software and went on Wattpad to read any book she could find in her library. Her concentration was not in it so she just went on Instagram and viewed, her account was private luckily. She viewed posts and pics entering from one account to another until she heard the car horn. Jamal and Umma are here. They are finally here
Ruha wrapped her viel around her for safety and watched with a sad smile as her cousins rang out screaming Umma as they went. She moved to the door slowly and stood on the patio watching as her aunts sleek Audi came to a stop. Her heart thundered in her chest as her eyes fogged over watching as they came down. Its been a while. Her grandmother still looked young and beautiful in her beautiful A shaped gown and HE, he looked the same, just more handsome and tall
Her cousins hugged the pair of them and she watched as they laughed. They are happy. She never belonged her in the first place. She felt a stab in her heart and tears fog her eyes but she ignored it, closed off her inner demeaning voice. Its too much. The memories and all
"Ruha, come and play"
"The spider isn't scary"
"Nothing can hurt you"
The memories were mocking her, laughing at her and she wondered how she was still standing. Suddenly, their eyes clashed and she stopped breathing, his black ones against her dark brown ones. Hers held tears, experience and sorrow, his held tears, hope and joy. He gave her a smile but she didn't return it. Their grandmother watched the siblings related by breast feeding look at each other with a smile
Jamal released his cousins hold on him and walked to the patio holding her eyes and before she realized what was happening, she was engulfed in the biggest, warmest hug ever and she hugged him back. Tears escaping their eyes
"I missed you" he mumbled kissing her forehead "so so much bes"
"I missed you too bes"
They finally let go of each other but their hold remained. A part of her she never knew she lost was back, but for how long she wondered
Her grandmother came over and hugged her tightly looking not older than 45 "welcome Umma"
"How are you Hayaati?" Her grandmother asked, only her grandmother and parents ever called her that because according to them she is their blessing, their life
"Alhamdulillah Umma" she replied, her grandmother kissed her forehead and they went into the house together*****
