"Sometimes,  you have to step out of your comfort zone" Aiyla

"Sometimes, you just have to step out of your comfort zone" Aiyla

The day began like the usual ones she experienced in her life. The sun rays woke her up. Since her grandmother was here, she couldn't dress anyhow so she grabbed a three-quarter sleeved dark green maxi gown with perl designs. She showered and wore with a white veil which also had perl and went downstairs

The rest of the family were eating breakfast so she quietly joined them after greeting her her grandmother and aunt

"So today we are going to go round Kano, show Jamal and Umma around then we'll visit a couple of the relatives before we go to the mall for shopping then we'll end it by coming back home so run along and dress up"

They nodded and went upstairs, Ruha just grabbed her white shoulder bag and matching shoes before going downstairs. Kamal and Jamal were going out with them today and it was obvious, they dreaded it

They all entered the white sienna, and after saying their dua', they drove out of the compound

The drive round Kano was normal as she has been to almost all the places, met almost all the relatives and many more before they stopped at their final destination. Ado Bayero Mall

They all separated to different places and she was alone, going through stores and her favorite destination, the bookstore to check if there's a new book in town

She looked around aimless and finally she received a call to go back home. They shopped for fruits, snacks and lots more before going back home

"Mummy" Adda Salma called entering the kitchen where they were cooking dinner. Amma looked up at her daughter "daddy just called, he's on his way home" to say she was stunned is an understatement. They were expecting him next week not tonight. Amma luckily was cooking an extravagant meal so it saved her

About thirty minutes later, her cousins were running to hug their father while Ruha watched, nostalgic. She wishes she had that. Just one more hug, she might hate him but deep down she knew, whatever happened that night was never his fault

She greeted her uncle before quietly making her way to the room to cry in peace. Oh dear heart, be quiet, for Allah never burdens a would beyond that which he can bear. She prayed nafila dedicated to her parents and joined them for dinner

Dinner was a noisy affair with Jamie at the table, Farha trying to gain his attention, Adda and Manal clinging to their father and Amma and Umma having a meaningful conversation with him. Only Ruha was quiet watching. She didn't belong here. It hit her like a brick and she felt tears gather in her eyes. No she won't cry. Oh dear heart, be strong!

She took an excuse and bolted from the table and locked her room door. She drank the antidepressants and slept off knowing she'll wake up soon and not be able to sleep back

*

Anyone who saw her will think she was a bulgar as she tiptoed downstairs and got a glass of milk and cookies

She tiptoed back to her room but saw the light in the office. Curiosity made her go there but what she heard shattered her

"Ruha must come with us to Abuja, its high time she goes back there" the words kept resonating in her head. No, they can't do this to her, its too early and impronto "we'll leave for Abuja in 2 days"

Ruha fainted. She lost consciousness and welcomed the world of oblivion
