Chapter 8 - "What a shame!"

Mariposa and Kol had just killed Mary, Kol was sat on the chair and Mariposa was laying on the bed. "Why are we in the dark?" Mariposa mused as she stared at the ceiling. "I mean, I'm not complaining, but do we mysteriously reveal ourselves to them when they arrive, because I'm pretty sure they're gonna see me laying on this bed as soon as they walk through the door!" She told him.

"Then get off the bed!" Kol told her.

"And go where exactly?" Mariposa questioned as she still stared at the ceiling. "I mean, I could sit on the ceiling, but that's just creepy!"

"You can sit here!" Kol told her, she lifted her head up to look at him and saw him gesturing to his lap.

Mariposa raised a brow at the vampire. "You want me to sit on your lap?" She asked him in confusion and disbelief. "But-"

"Just get over here!" Kol told her before he grabbed her wrist and pulled her over to him and placed her on his lap. "See, not that bad, is it?"

"I guess not!" Mariposa shrugged. "So, how long exactly do you think we'll be waiting here for them to finally arrive?" She asked.

"I don't know!" Kol shrugged. "I mean, they have to wait for Rose to talk to Jeremy!"

"You know a lot about this Jeremy!" Mariposa mused. "So, he can see the people on the other side?"

"I know that because Nik told me!" Kol told her. "But apparently so, yes! He can see the other side, but only people he knows over there. I think he'd go crazy if he saw everyone over there, I know I would. Thousands of people!"

"More than half of them awaiting hell!" Mariposa told him. "The other side prevents them from going to hell, or the other place. We call it the 'Good' Place, but it's not so good as everyone thinks. We run the worse place, and the 'Good' Place is the bad place."

"So, what if it was to get destroyed, the Other Side?" Kol asked her.

"Well, the really bad people would go straight to hell. A black vortex would appear and they'll be sucked in." Mariposa explained. "That's them going to hell!"

"So, in other words, the Other Side should never be destroyed?" Kol asked her.

"As Mariposa Le Fay, I say it should never be destroyed and is the best thing to ever be magically invented or created. As the She-Devil, I say it should be destroyed. We really need more people down there nowadays. We're about 1500 souls away from running out and it's getting boring torturing the same hundred thousand people." Mariposa explained to him.

"A hundred thousand?" Kol asked in disbelief.

"You're right!" Mariposa sheepishly chuckled. "It's more like five billion! Most of them are humans! Disgusting humans!" She cringed slightly.

"You fell in love with a human!" Kol pointed out.

"But he turned into a vampire!" Mariposa argued.

"Still fell in love with a human!" Kol shrugged and she rolled her eyes at him and his tactics. "You're quiet because you know I'm right!"

"Shut up, Kol!" She told him with an eye roll.

Instead of shutting up, Kol turned her head to face him and pulled her head down slightly and kissed her once more. She began to kiss him back, when she heard a faint noise, and she pulled away from him. "You hear that?" She whispered to him.

"Hear what?" Kol groaned as he let his hands rest on her lap.

"A car!" Mariposa clarified for him. "Approaching. I think they're here!"

"I don't hear anything-" Kol began to say, when he suddenly stopped. "I hear a faint noise. How did you hear that, they're just pulling up right now."

"Kol, you're forgetting, I'm much older than you!" She told him. "Meaning everything of mine is much stronger than yours! Now quiet, or they'll hear us!"

The both of them were quiet for a short while, when Kol got an idea. He knew they had to lead the two of them towards where they were waiting, so he moved his hands from Mariposa's lap to her sides. He pinched her sides and she squirmed, accidentally kicking the table near them both. Mariposa glared at Kol, which only made him grin and smirk in amusement.

Damon and Elena walked into the room where Kol and Mariposa were waiting in the dark for them. Elena shined the flashlight in her hands at the body of Mary. "Mary..." Damon sighed in defeat as he saw her dead body.

"Quite contrary!" Kol said as he put the light on beside them, to reveal him sitting on the chair with Mariposa sitting on his lap. "Shame about Mary!" Kol said as he pushed Mariposa off his lap and she sat on the bed nearby. Kol stood. "She used to be a blast. I don't quite know what happened. I fear all the time she spent with my family might have ruined her!"

Kol moved to just in front of her body, and looked towards it, where her body was impaled to the wall. "She was a bit of an Original groupie!" Kol explained to the Salvatore and doppelgänger.

"And were you her favourite?" Elena asked Kol, as Damon looked over to Mariposa, and narrowed his eyes at her, making her narrow hers back. He smirked and bit his lip slightly as he stared at her, and she jokingly winked at him.

"You mean, did i turn her?" Kol asked the doppelgänger as he watched the exchange between Mariposa and Damon, without anyone noticing. "I think I did. But, no, wait. Maybe it was Rebekah." Kol suggested as Damon faced Kol again. "But there was also a Klaus period. And let's not forget the Elijah affair." Kol said.

Elena and Damon shared an annoyed look. "Klaus sent Mariposa over, and she told me you're trying to find out who you're descended from." Kol informed them. "Now, you never will."

"What a shame!" Mariposa sighed dramatically as she threw a hand over her forehead and leaned her head back.

Kol hit the bat off the floor lightly, as if he were awaiting a ball to be thrown his way. "So....where did we leave off?" He asked before he hit Damon with the bat over and over again, with slight cracks being heard by everyone in the room as Kol hit the vampire.

"Elena, get out of here!" Damon groaned out in pain.

Elena ran fro the doorway, but Kol was in front of her instantly. "According to my brother, you're off limits. Just don't test me!" Kol told the doppelgänger before he pushed her back harshly and she hit her head off of the bed.

Damon's anger rose as he saw this, and rushed at Mariposa. "Don't touch her!" Damon growled as he dragged Mariposa off the bed  and held the She-devil against himself, with his hand around her throat.

Mariposa watched as Kol's eyes widened, and before he could do anything, Mariposa swing her head back and nailed Damon in the face. He let out a groan of pain as she used her demon speed and strength to get out of his grip and pushed him backwards into a wall. He flew through the air before he crashed against the wall.

"Oh, dear, I've hit a nerve!" Kol spoke as he approached Damon with a small chuckle as he held his arms out. "Relax, darling! I just want us to be even. You snapped my neck, you killed my brother, you humiliated me and you just put your dirty, stinking hands all over my girl!" Kol said before he began to beat Damon with the bat again over and over again.

Several cracks were heard as Elena looked towards Mariposa with a pleading look, but Mariposa ignored her. "There, now we're even!" Kol told the vampire.

Mariposa walked forwards and took the bat out of his hands and grabbed his wrist as she went to pull him out of the room, but Kol pulled her back into his body. He wrapped his arms around Mariposa's waist and pulled her closer to him and kissed her in front of Damon, just so Damon knew that he couldn't jokingly flirt around with her anymore, because Kol would kill him if he did so.

Mariposa pulled away and they walked out of the room, and Mariposa faced him as they left the house. "Your girl, huh?" She asked him with an amused smirk upon her face.

"Yes!" Kol told her. "Because you are!" Mariposa threw the bat into the back of her car, before they both climbed in. Jeremy glared over at Kol and her, before she started the car up. "Looks like he doesn't like us!" Kol chuckled as she drove away from the Gilbert boy.
