March 17, 1971

I was in labor for about another 10 hours, and it wasn't fun at all. I was sore and in pain, and the pain gotten worse overtime. George was a lot of help though, and I appreciated him a lot.

After some pretty bad contractions passed, the doctor came back into the room, and he smiled at me. "Let's take another look at the baby, shall we?" I nodded and laid back down onto the bed, and he got me ready for another ultrasound. Not only did we see our baby girl on the screen and was a fully grown baby, but we heard her heart beat, and it made tears fill my eyes. It's worth it. The pain and everything is so worth it. George held my hand as he heard her heartbeat, and he kissed my forehead.

"Everything looks fine! Let's just see if you're dilated enough to give birth." He grabbed some gloves and I opened my legs. He put them on and shoved his fingers in my "birth canal" and it felt very weird. "It's time!" He announced, and everyone's eyes widened. The doctors helped me get ready for birth. I was so scared and in so much pain, and George let me know that he felt bad for doing this to me, even though I told him it was a mutual decision.

After an hour of pushing and screaming, we made some progress. I was almost done, and George helped me by holding my hand and letting me squeeze his hand, which made him cringe at the pain. "You're almost there! Push!" The doctor encouraged, and I panted as I let out a loud groan and squeezed Geo's hand. He groaned as I squeezed his hand as well, the looked over to see how far the baby was, and when he witnessed what was happening, his eyes widened as he watched the baby's head emerge from me. I could tell he seemed a bit disgusted, but curious.

And not too long after, the baby's cry filled the room, and I began to softly cry tears of joy as they placed our baby on my chest and in my arms. "Oh my gosh! She's beautiful!" I said, admiring the baby and holding her close as her cries calmed down. George watched his daughter in awe and was caught off guard when the doctor asked him to cut the umbilical cord, which he did. They took the baby for a checkup and helped clean me up for recovery. They also checked for tearing, which I didn't have, which meant that I would recover sooner.

When I returned to my hospital room for recovery, Adam, Ruth, Mimi and Jace were all waiting for me. "How was it?" "Wheres the baby?" "Is everything okay?" They began to ask these questions, but George stopped them.  "Everything is alright." He explained to them everything that happened and everything the doctor had told us. "I'm so happy for you both!Congrats!" Mimi said, and then they all said it to me. We thanked them, and George kissed my forehead. "Yer a mommy now." I blushed and I looked at him. "And you're a daddy now, even though you've always been daddy to me." I winked, and George's eyes widened, and he bit his lip. Adam gagged, Mimi and Ruth looked at me in shock, not expecting me to say that, and Jace replied with a soft "Aww".

"Keep talking like tha' and ye'll be back in the hospital next year in the same condition." We laughed with each other, even though I was sure he wasn't joking. I rubbed my tired eyes and laid back as George stroked my curly and frizzy hair. "Get some rest. Yer tired." "I can't. I want to see my baby before I sleep." I looked at the door, patiently waiting for the nurses to bring our baby girl in to us. "Get some sleep. When the baby comes in, I'll let you know." Well, that sounded like a good idea, so I decided to get some rest.

Later on, the baby was brought back into the room and George held his daughter in his arms. "Hi, love." He smiled and held his daughter's small hand. Jace, Ruth and Mimi looked at the baby and smiled. "She's so cute!" Mimi whispered as the baby looked around at everyone. "Aww! Now I want a baby!" Ruth said, as she admired the girl. "So are you taking my suggestion?" Jace asked George, to which he received a confused look. "The baby's name." "Ah... well I have to talk to Brielle about tha'." Jace nodded and looked at the baby.

Mimi looked at the time and gasped. "I have work tomorrow! I have to go!" Ruth and Jace looked at each other. "We all have to get going then. We didn't plan on staying long, only for the shower. But... she had the baby." Jace clarified, and George understood. "Freddy is at me 'ouse. I'll let him know to let ye all in and then take the decorations." They thanked him and grabbed their stuff. "Tell Brielle we said bye!" Mimi said, and kissed Bri's cheek before leaving. They all left, and George slowly woke me up. "Look who's here..." He said softly, and my eyes widened as I saw our baby, who was just looking around at us and staying calm.

I took her from George's arms and held her close to me. She began to cry, and I began to panic. "Aww what's wrong?" I rubbed her back and George sniffed her diaper. "Maybe she's hungry." I quickly adjusted my hospital gown and began to breastfeed her, and she quickly latched on and began to drink my milk. "Ahh thanks. Good thinking."

As I was feeding Zuri, a nurse came in and we had to fill out and check the birth certificate, which took a while, but we finished it. And Zuri Louise Harrison, which is what we decided to name her and was on her birth certificate, finished drinking and I held her over my shoulder and burped her. And once she burped, she instantly fell asleep. I placed her in the bassinet and watched her. She already kind of looked like George a bit, with some of my features but more vague. "She's already beautiful, but when she grows up, she's going to be gorgeous. I'm going to 'ave to learn how to fight, so when she's old enough for boys, I'm prepared." George said, looking at Zuri and laughing softly with me.
