"Thanks again, Adam!" I hugged him before petting Cleo once more and heading over to the car. Hearing Cleo whimper as I walked away made my heart break, but we couldn't take her with us. So Adam agreed to watch her and take care of her for us while we were gone.
I got back into the car and George began to drive. I nervously played with my fingers as I thought about meeting his family. I just wished I was meeting them under different circumstances. George drove with one hand and held my hand with the other. "Don't be nervous. They don't bite." He laughed to himself softly and rubbed my hand assuringly. "It's just being different sucks sometimes. It's like the nervousness of your family liking me, plus them accepting me, and lastly and hopefully, them loving me." George held my hand tightly.
"They will love ye. It's me family, I know them. And even if they don't, their opinions don't change how I feel about ye." Gosh, he has such a way with words. He let go of my hand and turned the radio on.
"Just relax, yeah?" He said, and I agreed to relax. I sat back and just enjoyed the music as he drove, and I soon decided to take a nap and I fell asleep.
"Brielle, wake up." George shook me lightly and I woke up. "What's up?" I rubbed my aching back and stretched. "We are here." I looked at the house and my eyes widened. The fear increased inside me. He wiped my mouth and fixed my hair a bit and I thanked him. He looked at my small bump and smiled. "Come on." He said, and I check the rear view mirror to fix my appearance. Don't judge me. You all probably do it too. Once I looked decent enough, I got out of the car and joined George at the front door, and he rang the bell. I knew he could feel my hands shaking.
The door swung open and an older woman stood there. "Geo!" She screamed excitedly and hugged her brother. "Hello, Louise!" He responded, before pulling away from the hug and looking back at me. "Louise, this is me fiancée Brielle. Brielle, this is me sistah, Louise." I waved shyly, and she pulled me into a hug. "It's great to meet ye!" She said and she took my hand. "Please! Come meet the rest of the family!" We followed behind George as he walked further into the house into the main area.
"Hello, Harry! Peter!" George greeted his older brothers and hugged them. "Come Brielle! These are my brothers!" He introduced me to them, and I happily greeted them, even though Harry was staring at me, which made me uncomfortable but I decided to ignore it. "Where's Dad?" George asked his siblings, and they pointed to a room. He then grabbed my hand and went towards what I assumed to be his father's room.
He knocked first before opening the door and looking at his Dad, who was sitting on the bed looking at pictures of him and I guess his wife, George's mom. He put the picture down and looked up at George and his eyes widened. "Aahhh me boy!" He stood up and hugged George, and George hugged him back. "Hi Dad. How are ye?" He asked as he pulled away from the hug, and his father's face changed. "I'm still holdin on." He gave me a slight smile and looked at me.
George pulled me into the bedroom and I greeted his dad. "Dad, this is me fiancée Brielle." He smiled and hugged me. "Well nice to meet ye, Brielle. Yer very beautiful." He gave me a warm smile, and it made me blush. "Thank you, sir." "Oh darling, please call me Harold." George sat down with his dad and wrapped his arm around his shoulders. "We're all goin to miss mum, Y'know." Harold nodded and smiled at his son. "I know. There's goin to be a lot of changes around here. There's a huge difference when someone ye loved for so many years dies. The same face ye've been wakin up to for so many years is now just... gone." My heart broke for him when he said that. I couldn't ever imagine losing my spouse after so many years. I would go insane.
George rubbed his dad's back and took his hand. "Well Brielle and I 'ave some good news to share, just to brighten things up around here. Come on, Dad." He led his father to the main room and sat him down. "Brielle and I wanted to let ye all know that not only are we getting married, but we are expecting a child soon too." They all quickly congratulated us and we soon got ready for dinner, which was prepared by Louise. "We all missed ye 'round 'ere, George." She said, and it made George smile. "I miss ye all, too." We all talked through dinner, and they all reminisced about their mother and wife, who sounded like a wonderful person. I could've met her sooner if things didn't go so bad a while back.
After dinner, I began to help Louise clear the table, but she insisted that I rest since I was with child. "Are you sure?" I asked and she nodded. "Of course! I insist!" George took me away and he smiled. "Do ye want to see me childhood room?" My eyes widened. "Of course!" I followed him and he opened a door. It's kind of what you would've expected, based on where he's from and the type of person he is. There was a record player on an old desk and his bedroom seemed quite comfortable. There were records all over and some of his old clothes.
"Aww Geo! You were adorable!" I said as I picked up an old picture of him.
He laughed as he looked at the picture and sat on the bed. "Ye don't mind if we stay 'ere tonight and tomorrow night, do ye?" I shook my head. "I don't mind at all." He smiled and sat on his old bed. "It's the same way I left it. They just put some old Beatles merch in here." He said, looking at a picture of him and his parents.
"I'm gonna miss 'er, Bri." I moved towards him and looked at the picture. "I know you are. It's normal to grieve a loss of someone. But remember that she loved you and your family, and she was a lucky woman to have you all in her life." George smiled and laid on his old bed which was surprisingly big enough to fit both of us. I began to get our clothes ready for the funeral tomorrow. And when I was done, I got ready for bed and joined George in the bed and smiled. "This room just screams... you. It's just so.. you." He laughed softly and kissed my forehead. "Thank ye so much for being here with me and cheerin' me up." I kissed his chest softly and looked at him. "As your future wife, I go with you through the good and bad." "And it's the same with me for you." He whispered and we quickly fell asleep.
