March 17, 1972
I woke up early the next day to get ready for the day. I slid out of George's grip and went to the bathroom to wash and shower. I tried my best to be quiet so I wouldn't wake George, which I accomplished. I got dressed and made my way to Zuri's room, and she was up at her usual time.
"Happy birthday Zo!" I said as I picked up Zuri from her crib and kissed her cheek. She giggled softly as I took her to the bathroom and then got her ready for the day.
"Where's my baby girl?" George said as he entered the bathroom and picked Zuri up from the bath. "Happy birthday, baby! Baba loves you!" He kissed her wet face, and Zuri began to laugh.
He put her down and got in the shower, and I finished bathing her and dressing her up for the day.
"Let's go greet everyone." I picked her up and took her to the kitchen to feed her some breakfast. As I was making her food, Jace, Mimi and Freddie all entered the dining area.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday my dear Zuri! Happy birthday to you!" Mimi sang as she picked Zuri up from her high chair and held her close. "What would you all like for breakfast?" I asked them, but they shook their heads.
"You're already making food for your family, so I'll make breakfast for everyone else." Jace said, kissing my cheek. "Thanks, Jace."
Once I finished, I placed Zuri's food in front of her and Mimi fed her for me while I went to check on George. "What are you doing?" I sat next to him on the bed, and looked at the picture he was looking at.
"It's when Zuri was first born." He showed it to me with a huge smile on his face. "It's already been a year. That's crazy." He put the picture down and held my hand. "We can reminisce more after you eat your breakfast, sir." I told him as I pushed some of his hair behind his ear.
We stood up and I brought him to the kitchen, his hand still in mine. He greeted everyone and sat down next to Zuri, so now she was between him and Mimi. I gave him a plate of breakfast and he grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on it. "Thank ye, love."
I blushed and looked at everyone in the room. "You guys wouldn't mind if I just did George right here, right now, right?" I said in a joking tone, and Only Jace and George seemed to notice. Mimi and Freddie looked frightened. "I was kidding." I laughed, and they eased up a bit.
Jace finished preparing the rest of the food as I went to get Cleo and I fed her as well. "So I have today all planned out and I can't wait for the party to start! And thank you Cole for agreeing to record the whole thing!" I said to him as he entered the kitchen. "Ah no problem at all!" He said, as he began to eat.
"Alright. We have an hour left." I said softly, looking at the schedule in my notepad that I was holding. "Brielle, It's a party. I know ye want everything to go alright, but try to have some fun, Alrigh'? Promise me ye'll try to have fun." George said as he took the schedule away from my hand.
"Fine." I poured and crosses my arms. "I promise." "Good." He passed by me to wash his dish and as he did so, he placed a smack on my bum, which made me gasp.
So as he washed his dish, I hit his arm. "Don't do that." He chuckled softly and I went to the main room and sat on the couch to give myself some time to relax. At least until George, Jace, Cole and Freddie began to rearrange the room, and they brought some instruments, including a drum set from George's studio into the main room. So now the couch and chairs in the main room were facing the drum set.
"What's going on?" I asked them, and George smiled. "I planned something special." He winked and headed back into the kitchen.
The bell rang, so I got up to get it. "Eric?Pattie?!" I half yelled and screamed. "Eric and Pattie?" George said from the kitchen, then met me at the front door. "I know that we weren't invited, but we got a gift for little Zuri." She handed the gift wrapped box to me and smiled softly.
"Come in! It's been a while, Eric!" George greeted the two with a hug and invited them in. "Don't worry. I'm over George. You won't have to worry about me."
She said as she walked into the main room. Alright. Add "Look out for Pattie" to my schedule. I grabbed my schedule and added that to it. My brain probably already set that reminder, but just to be safe I wrote it down.
And after a while more people began to come. George's family, My family, Adam, Ringo and Barbara, John and Yoko, Paul and Linda and their daughter Stella, who was only 2 months older than Zuri.
I greeted John, who I haven't seen in a while and terrible missed. I also greeted Paul and Linda as well, and even while doing all of that, I still managed to keep my eyes on Pattie every now and again.
And soon, the party had officially begun. Zuri already had more gifts then I thought she'd get, and the table in the front that had the gifts wasn't enough. So George helped me move the gifts to his office instead.
The music began to fill the house, and sadly I had to place Cleo upstairs in our room because my cousin Angie was afraid and allergic to dogs. Bummer. Who invited her anyway?
Anyways, the party went a lot more smooth than I thought it would. Maybe George was right. I didn't need the schedule.
During the party, Paul had found George's guitar that I gave him for Christmas a while back, and he began to play it. "Ahh I remember this song!" John said, putting his drink down on the table and George grabbed another guitar. Paul then got up and headed to the piano we have in the house and have John the guitar.
"Is this becoming what I'm thinking it is?" Ruth whispered to me, and I nodded. "I think so." George put Zuri next to him as he began to strum his guitar along with John, and Paul grabbed the bass that there and played it, and Ringo got behind the drum set and began to play. And everyone watched in amazement as it all unfolded. After watching this, I might need to invite them to my next birthday.
"She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahYou think you've lost your love
Well, I saw her yesterday
It's you she's thinking of
And she told me what to sayShe says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad"The boys sang, and everyone got up and began to dance.
Usually, people get new clothes for their birthday. But not Zuri. She got a freaking private Beatles reunion concert.
Speaking of Zuri, she sat in Louise' lap, but she was bouncing and clapping her hands as she listened to her dad and the others play.
And best of all, Cole recorded it all. This would be a day we would literally never forget.
