Chapter 2

Melissa's POV
Dr. Ross led us to a conference room and we all sat down.
Dr. Ross: I have been treating the James girls since they came in and this is what we know because the only one awake is still processing what happened and she hasn't talked to us yet. The oldest Alexa James is 15.She had a liver bleed and a pretty serious concussion. So we sedated her and we are going to lighten her sedation soon so we should be able to get some more info on her soon. The second oldest Ashton is 14. She came in with rib fractures, we had to take her appendix out and she also had a bad concussion too. We sedated her and she should wake up here soon just like her sister. The next in line is Anna. This 13 year old came in with a brain bleed, ruptured appendix which we took out. She almost lost one of her kidneys. Her hips were displaced and we put those back in place and she also had surgery on a heart value. We fixed every thing but the eternal bleeding was to great so we had to make a large incision across her abdomen and she will have a pretty noticeable scare. She is also sedated and we are going to try and lighten it tomorrow, but she is going to be in a lot of pain and we don't know if it will get better. The youngest Avery is 5 she has a broken arm and leg and a minor concussion, but she will make a full recovery and will only have to wear the casts for 8 more weeks. With that being said would you guys like to see them?
Melissa: Yes please.

We go to see Avery first and she is adorable.
Melissa: Hey sweetie I'm Melissa and this is Chris. We want to be your new mommy and daddy.
Avery: Will you take care of my sisters to?
Chris: Yes we will is that okay?
Avery: Yes daddy.

We all hug and then we go see Anna.
Chris' POV
I wheeled in Avery and Melissa held her hand to Anna's room.
Melissa: Oh my gosh.
There were tubes coming out of here body from every direction. I felt horrible for this little girl. A week ago we got called to do a chemistry read with her and now we adopted her and she is very hurt. She was supposed to play Mon-el and Kara's adopted daughter and now she is our daughter. Avery started to cry and she freaked out. Melissa picked her up being careful of her leg and arm. When Mel picked her up she automatically calmed down and we sat in silence in her room for a while until Avery spoke up.
Avery: Is my sister going to die?
Chris: I hope not sweetie.
After about ten minutes we made our way to Ashton's room and she was just waking up when we got there.
Melissa: Hi I'm Melissa and this is Chris. We adopted you and your sisters today.
Ashton: Hi. How are you Avery.
Avery: I'm okay, but you have to see Anna she is laying so still and she might die.
Ashton: Is that true?
Chris: Yes, but you have us and we will be here for you.
Ashton: If you guys adopted us that means my parents died right?
Melissa: Yes they died from the impact.

She started to cry and we hugged again.
Ashton: Thank you for being here mom and dad.
Melissa: Do you want to go see Alexa her sedation should be lightened soon.

I rolled Ashton into Alexa's room and Mel held Avery. We had the same conversation with Alexa and then we all went to see Anna again. It was getting late so I went to go put Avery to bed and Melissa put Alexa and Ashton to bed. When I tried to leave the room Avery cried and she ended up falling asleep on my chest.
Melissa's POV
I just dropped off Alexa in her room and I was helping Ashton into her bed
Ashton: Will you lay with me?
Melissa: Of course.
I got into bed with her and rested my hand on my stomach.
Ashton: Are you pregnant?
Melissa: How did you know?
Ashton: Your hand was on it all night and when ever dad saw it he smiled.
Melissa: Yeah we figured out a few weeks ago and we had a ultrasound the day we got the call about you guys.
Ashton: How far along are you?
Melissa: 4 weeks. We should get to bed they are going to lighten you sisters sedation tomorrow and wake her up then we will tell your other sisters. Hopefully we can leave this place and get back to Vancouver soon. We have to start shooting Supergirl season six in a month and a half. Goodnight.
Ashton: Goodnight mom.
