Chapter 43

Melissa's POV

Chris came through the door and I wiped the tears from cheeks. He grabbed the twins from our bedroom and left with them. I took a deep breath and continued to get dressed for dinner. The door opened, but who came through the door was not who I was expecting.

Anna: Mom are you almost ready to leave?

Melissa: Yeah. Just give me fifteen minutes. Will you go help your father get the twins in their carseats?

Anna: Mom dad just left. I thought you knew.

Melissa: He did what?

Anna: He grabbed the keys to the BMW and left.

Melissa: Okay go check on your sisters and give me a minute.

I went to the nursery, and the girls were sleeping peacefully in their cribs. I went downstairs and found the older girls on the couch watching TV.

Alexa: Mom are we going to eat soon?

Melissa: Change of plans how about you guys grab something from the fridge.

Ashton: But, mom.

Melissa: Ashton! Do not test me today.

I ran upstairs and took a second before I got a phone call.

ON THE PHONE

Chyler: Hey Melissa they need you and Chris back on set for one last scene for the crossover.

Melissa: Umm. Okay I will be there as soon as I can. You should call Chris and tell him.

Chyler: Why can't you?

Melissa: Please Chyler he will pick up for you.

Chyler: Okay. Hey are you okay?

Melissa: Don't want to talk about it. I will be there in ten minutes.

OFF THE PHONE

I grabbed the babies carseats and their diaper bag before heading downstairs.

Melissa: Hey I got a call from Chyler and they need me back on set for one last scene.

Alexa: Do we have to go?

Melissa: Alexa please don't fight with me.

Alexa: Okay.

I grabbed the twins and put them in their carseats.

Melissa: Okay are we ready to go.

Avery: I don't want to.

Melissa: Okay. Alexa and Ashton will you put the twins in the car and then get in yourself.

I watched them leave through the garage and then talked to Avery.

Melissa: Avery what is going on with you?

Avery: I don't want to go.

Melissa: Why?

Avery: Daddy.

Melissa: What happened with daddy?

Avery: He left.

Melissa: I'm sorry he left and he will come back, but we have to go to set first and then we can look for him.

Avery: Okay.

We grabbed her coat and shoes and I got her in the car. We drove the next ten minutes to set. I grabbed the twins out of the back and we were about to the trailer when Avery threw a fit. I was trying to calm her down when Chyler saw me.

Chyler: Avery I saw your dad earlier why don't we go find him.

Avery happily agreed and I took the twins to the trailer and told them all to stay in there.

Melissa: I have to go to hair and makeup please stay here. Your sisters should be up in a few minutes the bottles are in the diaper bag.

I ran to hair and makeup and barely got there on time.

Melissa: Sorry I'm late Avery was not happy.

Sam: You're good. We are putting you in Kara so it should be quick.

I got done with hair and makeup and then went to change into the costume before getting to set. I saw everyone crowded around one person who I assumed was Chris and Avery. I pushed my way through the crowd and there he was standing with a happy Avery.

Melissa: It is her bedtime. I can put her down.

Chris: No it's okay I got it.

Melissa: I will walk with you.

We walked in silence to the trailer and I stopped him before he went into it.

Melissa: Here I will take her.

Chris: Mel I can put our kid to bed.

Melissa: I trust that you can, but our older daughters are not stupid and they know you walked out on me and them. So I will take her.

I grabbed her out of his hands and lucky for me she was already asleep. I turned around to face him.

Melissa: You can go now.

I opened the door to the trailer and everyone was asleep. I placed Avery on the bed and then went back to set. The scene we had to shoot had a karamel kiss in it and this was the first time I didn't want to kiss him. I did anyways and then went back to the trailer to check on the kids. Both of the twins were awake and about to cry so I grabbed the bottles form the bag and grabbed them before leaving the trailer. I was walking down the stairs when Chyler saw me. She came and grabbed one baby before pulling me into her trailer.

Chyler: Mel what is going on?

Melissa: What do you mean?

Chyler: Come on I know something happened between you and Chris.

Melissa: He left me alone with the kids, no warning.

I let a tear slip down my cheek and by the time we finished having the conversation she was fuming. She gave me the baby and left.

Chyler's POV

I left my trailer and made my way to set.

Chyler: Can I have a word with Chris alone.

Grant: Yep.

I waited for everyone to leave and then I went berserk.

Chyler: You left her alone with 6 kids. Two of them being two months old and you left her.

Chris: I needed a break.

Chyler: You needed a break. What about her. She doesn't get a break, but you get to take one.

Chris: I went to take a ride around the block and then I got your call. I had every intention to go back home.

Chyler: So you were overwhelmed and decided to leave. Which left Melissa alone with all the hectic. You couldn't even handle half of the hectic and you left her with all of it. You screwed up big time, so you will go fix it for the sake of your children's.

Chris's POV

Chyler was right and I had to fix it with Mel. I ran to the parking lot and Melissa's car was gone. I got out of my suit and ran to my car heading for home.
