Lily's POV:

I stood by the doorway watching my family silently. I had stepped out of the room telling them I had to make a call, but it was a lie. I needed a moment to breathe. Everything that happened recently had been moving so fast. I felt like I was drowning, suffocating yet nobody could tell under all the fake smiles I had perfected over the years.

But coming back into a house that held so much warmth eased my throbbing heart. The sight before me brought light tears to my eyes. My father was the foundation of the family. He was the one that held us all together. And the thought of him being taken away, locked away hurt me dearly.

As I stared into the dining room I couldn't help but smile seeing nothing but love and happiness swarm the room. The table was littered with Chinese takeaway boxes, nearly empty plates and the sound of laughter. Dad sat in the middle of the table with one arm around mum's shoulders and the other digging into his plate full of Chinese food. Dean and Rosie were sat opposite laughing wildly at something my dad had said and mum was simply staring at dad as if he was her everything. I wish someone looked at me the way they looked at each other.

"Come here princess".

I was so drawn in by the happy looking family that I hadn't even realised I was crying.

My feet took a few steps forward before they came to a halt right before my dad's chair which he had somehow managed to turn around in those split seconds.

Dad stood up and embraced me swiftly crushing my body into his. I smiled sweetly at his refreshing cologne that he always wore. Dad rested his chin on top of my head and rubbed one of his hands in a circular motion before pulling away.

"Now you listen here. You don't know the pain as a father to find out the man I entrusted you to has laid his hands on you, cheated on you and quite possibly abused you in other ways. It hurts to know that you didn't come to me when he first hurt you. I failed as a father. I am supposed to protect you, but I couldn't. But I promise you baby girl that nobody will ever hurt you again, not whilst I'm alive and breathing".

"I know daddy" I mumbled into his now crumpled white shirt staining it with mascara and foundation, but he wouldn't care.

"What are you going to do now Lily, with everything that has happened" Dean called out making me pull away from the warm embrace of my dad's arms.

My dad gently ran his finger underneath my eye wiping away any evidence of my tears before wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

"Divorce. I want a divorce. Today. Dad will you come with me?".

"Baby girl I really shouldn't since I'm still under investigation, but I couldn't care less about the law. So of course I'll come with you my angel".

Dean suddenly cleared his throat capturing everyone's attention.

"I hate to bring this to attention, but you two weren't married for more than 1 year were you?".

Dad sighed heavily before staring down at me with a sad expression.

"Only 6 months. Why? Would that affect it?".

"Unfortunately to get a divorce you need to have been married for at least 1 year".

"That's bloody bullshit" mum yelled.

"So what, she's stuck with a cheating abusive husband for 6 more months? Over my dead body" dad held onto me tighter as his anger increased by the seconds.

"No, of course not. Do you think we'd let him go anywhere near her. No, instead you can opt for a legal separation. You'll still be married but not living together and then once you've technically been married for 1 year you can change it into a divorce".

"Sounds good to me" I blurted out. I couldn't care less that we had brought the house together, I just didn't want to see his face ever again.

"I still think he deserves death" mum muttered out whilst rummaging through one of the many Chinese food bags.

Everyone went silent and looked at mum hoping she'd turn around and laugh, but judging from her facial expression, she meant it 100%.

"Lets head to my office princess".

Alexander's POV:

Walking into the very large office building, I looked up at the golden plaques to find the name of the man I wanted to have a chat with.

"Ah, Hello Matthew". My eyes roamed over the large golden plaque with the floor number where I'd find him.

Fixing up my tie I held my head up high hiding my sinister smirk and walked straight into the open lift door. Shuffling my body in carefully into the busy lift I pressed number 35 before stepping back and leaning against the wall.

From the corner of my eye I could feel the stares off the women stood in the lift with their very overpowering perfumes that made my eyes water slightly.

"You work here?". I turned to face a scantily dressed woman with the tops of her large fake breasts on show for all to see.

"No, just here to see a friend of mine". I bit my lip harshly laughing at what my supposed friend had in store.

Her eyes roamed all over my body like a predator would before claiming their prey.

"Oh, n-nice" she stuttered pathetically before pushing her body up closer to mine.

"Perhaps if you've got time afterwards, you can visit me in the ladies bathroom on the 20th floor" she purred seductively into my ear but made it look subtle enough in the busy lift.

Leaning towards her exposed ear I lent in closer and breathed slowly against her pale skin.

"You reek".

"-That would be my perfume"-

The lift landed on my designated floor and opened up revealing a quiet lobby.

Stepping out of the lift, I turned to face the scantily dressed woman who was practically drooling at me.

"You reek of desperation".

My lips quirked up into a smirk as her face dropped as the lift doors closed.

Turning back to face the incredibly clean office floor I turned my attention to the large name plastered on the wall beside 2 large office doors.

Let the fun begin.

Hey guys. Hope you're enjoying the story so far. I've come up with some seriously dark and frankly upsetting plot twists. Sorry in advance. xoxo
