Chapter 57: The gift that keeps giving

I felt overwhelmed with emotion as Alexander stood on one knee before me holding a very small and delicate box. I watched him open the box and there sat the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. I couldn't even begin to imagine how much it cost, but it was absolutely stunning.

My mouth opened to talk, but no words could come out. I was a bundle of emotions with everything that had happened recently. But this was the icing on the cake. 

"I'm still on my knees kitten, hurry up and agree to be my wife".

My eyes flew up from the ring and stared at Alexander who was smirking at me.

"Yes! A million times, yes. I'll be your wife. I want to be yours forever". 

Alexander smiled sweetly and slipped the ring on my finger. He stood up and engulfed me in a tight hug whilst spinning me around occasionally planting his lips on mine.

"My wife forever, I like the sound of that".

Alexander placed me down and continued to hold me tightly.

"Oh gosh, I wonder what my parents will say I-".

"Shhhh Kitten".

Alexander rested his pointer finger against my lips and caressed my jawline softly.

"I already asked your father for permission. To my surprise, he was more excited than you were when I proposed to you. He said I'd make an amazing son in law". 

"He did, did he?".

Alexander smirked at me but nodded with a sense of pride. 

"Yup. Now, I have another surprise for you. I know you want to see Lyla, but right now I'm taking you back to my, I mean our home with new additions of course. I think we deserve a night to, reconnect. I brought you a dress and I'm taking you out to celebrate. Your father is looking after Lyla for the night and then we will go back to them tomorrow, okay?".

This sneaky man was always one step ahead of me in everything. I lucked out hard with this man and I'd treasure him for the rest of my life.

"Okay".

"No peaking Kitten or i'll have to punish you".

I was so tempted to disobey him. I loved it when he threatened me with punishment, it was like an enticement, the thrill of the chase and boy did he know it. 

Alexander guided me inside the very warm house and I knew exactly where we were.

Home.

Our home.

"Ok, are you ready?".

"Yes. You're making me nervous".

Alexander stood behind me and told me to keep my eyes shut as he took the blindfold off.

I stood still and let Alexander drop the blindfold off from my eyes. I could feel his breath on the outer part of my ear as he whispered for me to open my eyes.

Alexander snaked his arms around my waist as I opened my eyes and blinked rapidly to adjust my eyes back to the brightness.

As my vision came back, my eyes fell upon a cream room newly decorated with endless picture frames of familiar faces and baby furniture. 

"Alexander, I, you did all this?".

Alexander gently pushed me forward into the room and let me take it all in.
