"Can you see him? There's too many people".

"Well I hate to burst your bubble babe, but this is the London marathon and there are over 40 thousand runners. It's like finding a needle in a haystack".

I turned to my husband and glared at him with my most menacing look. Alexander smiled at me shyly before turning back to look through the crowd.

"I can't believe your father is actually doing this. He was really determined".

Mum leaned over the railing and stared intensely at every person that ran by checking that she wasn't missing dad run past.

"Well, you were his motivation. You survived cancer and now he's raised almost 1 million for cancer research. You were his determination".

Mum glanced at Alexander and held his hand tightly whilst staring at him with nothing but love. I swear at times she loved Alexander more than I did.

"Lyla, can you see grandpa?".

All eyes flew up to Lyla who was sitting comfortably on Alexander's shoulders.

Both her and Alexander simultaneously squinted and looked through the crowd. They looked identical with that expression. Pulling out my camera, I quickly took a photo of the two precious people and slipped the camera back in my bag before they noticed.

"No daddy. Ooh, I see a penguin".

Lyla gave the man dressed up as a penguin the biggest wave. My heart swelled as the man waved back before turning his eyes back on the road. Lyla giggled to herself as she continued to wave at people in the crowd.

"I absolutely love the t-shirt you put on Elliot. He's too cute".

I stared down at our beautiful baby boy positioned comfortably in the forward baby sling on my chest. His big eyes staring out at all the runners whizzing by. At several points he started to get a little dizzy from all the people zooming by.

"Dad needs all the support and so dressing our son up in a t-shirt saying 'Grandpa's #1 fan' should do the trick".

"I see Grandpa! There. There is grandpa. Hi grandpa!".

Lyla wriggled excitedly on Alexander's shoulders as she waved wildly trying to grab dad's attention.

We all began to shout and call out for him as he failed to notice Lyla's little call amongst the large crowds.

Everyone cheered as dad suddenly looked our way and caught sight of us. He cut through the crowd and reached over the barrier to hug all of us.

"You're nearly there my love. You're so close to the finish line".

Dad kissed mum tenderly before looking at the rest of us.

"Aw look at you little man".

Dad kissed Elliot's chubby cheeks before turning to Lyla who was ecstatic to see him.

"You the best Grandpa".

I couldn't help but smile uncontrollably as Lyla and dad high fived and him telling her how much he loved her.

"You know, I think after this I-".

"Stop talking and run grandpa. Run! A shark is coming. Run!"

Dad's face paled and looked behind him and it just so happened that a man was coming up dressed up as a shark.

"You're right. I better run. See you all at the finish line".

Dad started to run again, but Lyla became traumatised when the shark started to get closer to him.
