Lily's POV:
I truthfully didn't want Alexander to leave me during this stressful situation, but I had to be brave. I had to face the reality of Matthew's death, but judging by the strong grip of my father's hand around mine, I knew he was going to be with me every step of the way.
My head was in a complete blur. Everything happened all at once. It still hadn't dawned on me that Matthew was dead. Hopefully the police would give us all some answers.
"Lily Evans?".
I stood at the doorway of the lounge and stared at the two police officers standing before me with their hands behind their back and a woman in a neat suit.
"Y-Yes?".
The harsh looking woman walked towards me with a stern expression and gazed at me momentarily.
"Lily Evans I'm arresting you on suspicion of the murder of Matthew Evans. You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence".
Tears pricked my eyes as a police officer walked in front of me and pulled me away from my father's hold and instantaneously bound my hands with cuffs.
"D-Dad" I sobbed loudly not being able to handle the shock of all that was happening.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing. Get your hands off my daughter".
Tears poured down my face as my dad went to throw his fist at the officer who was restraining me.
"I'd advise you to take a step back and stop obstructing us on our job otherwise I can arrest you too".
My mum was sobbing into her hand shaking her head in complete disbelief.
Little Milo bounded into the room and growled as loudly as a little puppy could and ran straight towards the officer holding me. Milo bit down on the officer's trouser leg and tugged at it furiously.
"Please, she's innocent. Our baby's innocent" mum cried out before gripping my arm in hopes to pull me back to safety.
"Ma'am, let go".
The officer stepped in front of me blocking me from my parents and quicker than I could blink, the comforting feel of my mother's touch was gone. The officer had now nudged Milo off his trouser and held onto my arm tightly.
"SHE'S INNOCENT. IT WAS M-"
"Let's go" the detective interrupted loudly.
Tears had clouded my vision, but I could feel myself being guided out of the warm house and out back into the cold.
I could hear the shouts of my parents behind me as the officer placed me into the car and all sat in their own seats.
Looking back at my grief stricken parents one last time, the car pulled away and out of the drive. Just as the car pulled onto the main road, I caught sight of a large SUV parked on the opposite side of the road. A window rolled down and my heart stopped seeing it was Alexander.
His eyes widened as his gaze fell on me in the backseat. His calm face was now anything but calm. His eyes were clouded with rage and fury. And truthfully it scared me. But all I wanted was for him to hold me one last time. I wanted to hear his voice. I wanted him to kiss all the fear and pain away. But I wouldn't be able to.
And just like that, we were gone.

Alexander's POV
I have never felt such a rage as I do in this moment in time. It didn't even cross my mind that she'd be put in the back of a police car. It only meant one thing, she was suspected of a crime she didn't commit. I knew I had a gut feeling that Matthew didn't commit suicide.
"It's a fucking set up" I growled lowly to myself and banged my fist against the steering wheel of my car. I knew exactly who was behind this little stunt. I expected retaliation after what I did, but I never expected him to do this.
I knew I was playing a risky game, but I wasn't going to let my kitten go to prison for something she did not do. She was too innocent, everyone with eyes could see that. But I knew that Liam would have expertly set this up with all pieces of evidence pointing to Lily. Like hell was I going to let her go to jail.
Switching my car into gear, I pulled out of the parking space and turned into James and Isabella's driveway only to halt the car as they both stood on the driveway crying and holding one another.
They both pulled away from each other as my car lights shined brightly on them making their eyes squint up in confusion. Unbuckling my seatbelt, I jumped out of the car and walked towards the trembling couple.
"Alexander? What are you doing here?" James called out whilst still embracing his wife.
"I was with Lily before she had to come home, but I've just seen her in the back of a police car. Where are they taking her?".
Isabella started to cry again as I once again reminded them of the events that had happened not even minutes ago.
"Are you aware of her ex's death?".
"Yeah, she was really sad about it, are they taking her away for questioning?".
James lowered his head and caught sight of a lone tear trickle down his tan face.
"Well they have found evidence that would suggest that it was a murder made to look like a suicide. They believe Lily did it, they've taken her away".
"That's bullshit and we all know it. Lily is too gentle and too innocent to take a life".
Even though I fully knew the situation, I had to be smart about it. I couldn't blurt out that I already knew. God knows how James would react if he found out about my real occupation. As much as I knew it was Liam, I couldn't turn him in as he'd give details on me and my gang.
"You have my word Mr Richardson, your daughter will not be going to prison. I'll turn myself in if I have to".
