Lily's POV:
"Thank you for such a lovely day Kitten".
A part of me didn't want him to go, but I had no claim over him and he was a busy man. Christmas celebrations in mum and dad's house wouldn't end for several days, but Alexander had politely announced it was time for him to go home.
Truthfully, I was surprised he stayed pretty much all day. My family certainly knew how to be embarrassing. After hours of cheesy games such as my mum failing to guess that my dad was pretending to be a fish during Charades, to shoving marshmallows in our mouths to see who could still say chubby bunnies. It was a crazy yet fun day and judging by the tears that fell out of Alexander's eyes as he struggled to contain his laughter, he didn't find us weird at all. I was nervous about how he'd feel after all these years of celebrating Christmas alone. But seeing him happy made me happy.
"You're more than welcome. I hope we weren't too weird for you to handle". Alexander laughed and shook his head before smiling widely at me.
"Not at all. Thank you for letting me be apart of your family for Christmas. It meant a lot".
"We loved having you over. Feel free to invite yourself over for lunch or dinner anytime". Alexander smiled at my response and nodded in appreciation.
"I'll take that into consideration kitten. Oh and I almost forgot".
Alexander smiled at me with the biggest smile as he rummaged in his jacket pocket. My heart began to race as he pulled out a small box wrapped expertly with a cute white ribbon sat on top of the box.
"Merry Christmas Kitten".
"Alexander, you didn't have to"-
"Shh, just open it".
I smiled at him in appreciation before carefully ripping open the wrapping paper and letting it fall to the ground. A light blue/green box appeared under the wrapping and my heart suddenly stopped as my eyes fell on the writing on the box.
Tiffany and Co
"Alexander, I"-
Before I could utter another word and protest the present, Alexander shushed me and gestured for me to open the box. Steadying my shaky hands I carefully lifted the lid off the box. A loud gasp escaped my mouth as my eyes fell upon the most beautiful necklace I had ever seen.
"A-Alexander, I can't accept this. It's too much".I was still lost for words at the beauty of the necklace he had brought me. I couldn't even begin to imagine how expensive this was. I had never been given jewellery as a present. Matthew always brought me jewellery, but there was nothing sentimental about it. Alexander was simply a man who walked into my life at the most perfect time. A man who comforted me during my heartbreak, a man who became my friend, and man who had won the friendship of my family. A man who brought me such a beautiful and expensive gift.
"You can accept this kitten. It's yours and I don't want you to say anything else. May I put it on you?".
I nodded still stunned by the gift he had brought me. Alexander carefully lifted the necklace from out of the box and walked to stand behind me. Staring out at the beautiful snow that covered the garden I bit my lip harshly feeling his warm fingers gently brush my skin and his minty breath fan against my ear sending tingles up my spine. He took his time carefully wrapping the necklace around my neck before clicking it into place and walking back to his previous position in front of me.
"Looks beautiful on you" he whispered softly into my ear, his eyes glancing between me and the necklace.
"Alexander, this must've cost a fortune. I'm a simple girl. Just get me a pizza and I'll be happy". Alexander frowned and shook his head.
"Don't worry yourself about the price, besides a woman like yourself deserves so much more than a necklace. Plus if you want a pizza I can take you for one now if you'd like".
"No no no. I'm good. The necklace is more than enough. Is it"-
"Real diamonds and a real sapphire".
Holy shit.
Before Alexander could even blink I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around his body and lent my head against his chest.
"Thank you so much Alexander. I can't thank you enough. Its absolutely beautiful and I love it so much".
I looked up at Alexander only to be met with his amazing brown earthy eyes staring straight down at me. His eyes lingered on my own eyes but occasionally turned his glances down onto my lips. Without even realising it, our lips were moving closer together and soon enough I felt his minty breath hit my lips. Instinctively my eyes fell shut and I lent up to Alexander.
"Lily look!".
My eyes shot open and quickly pulled away from Alexander as my dad's voice called out from behind me.
Dad was leaning against the hallway with his phone out as if ready to take a picture. Dad was looking down at the floor and clamped his hand over his mouth as the sound of tiny paws patted against the floor. I stood in awe watching my dad contain his feels as Milo bounded across the wooden floor wearing his personally made sweater that matched my dad's.
"Isabella, get your butt over here with the camera. Quick!".
Shaking my head at the sight before me, I looked back to Alexander who was staring at my family with a smile on his face.
"I um, thanks once again Alexander".
"Once again, you're welcome kitten".
Alexander stared down at the necklace round my neck and smiled looking like he was in some sort of trance.
"I best be off. See you soon Kitten".
I waved goodbye to Alexander and watched as he stepped into his car and switched the engine on. Glancing at me once more he beeped his horn and drove out of the driveway.
Stepping back into the warmth of the house I stared at my dad who was holding Milo like a baby and making cooing sounds whilst posing for the camera mum was holding.
"Lily, come and take some pictures with us" dad yelled out whilst turning Milo to face who barked at my dad's request.
"Sure, just give me 5 minutes to put some makeup on".
Running down the hall holding onto my necklace, I rushed into my room and slammed the door shut behind me. Quickly opening up my laptop, I typed searched up Tiffany and Co and scrolled through all the beautiful necklaces until my eyes sought out the same necklace that Alexander had gifted me with.
"£3,725".
What the actual heck.
