Hi guys. So it's 12am in England and it's technically New Year's Eve. I was going to publish at midnight when 2019 becomes 2020 but unfortunately I have plans for New Year's Eve. So enjoy an early update ;)
Lily's POV:
"I am so thrilled at this new you, taking life by the horns and demanding we go out for New Year's Eve".
"Yeah well, I'm not letting no man control me anymore. I'm a free woman now and I want to have some fun" I said as I buckled up my heel before steadying myself and strutting over towards the mirror.
"It's New Years Eve, who knows, you may find someone perfect tonight".
"Unlikely but tonight is not about seeking someone out. Tonight is about me and getting wasted". Grabbing the bottle of opened wine, I lifted the bottle to my mouth and chugged the cool liquid down like water.
"You know, I never condone cheating but maybe it was what you needed to be rid of him once and for all. He was a narcissistic, controlling and vile man. You're so much better off without him". Beth walked up behind me and smiled at me before winking at me in the reflection of the mirror whilst grabbing the bottle of wine out of my hand.
"He is and I hope karma bites him on his ass".
"I haven't seen you in so long babe, that asshole always kept you at home with him. I love this new found confidence, and by the way you're looking, you're going to have men bowing before you begging for a chance to even talk to you".
Beth sat herself down on my bed and pulled out her phone.
"Ugh, no. I've had enough of men for an entire life. Maybe I should give up on love and become a nun".
"Or become a lesbian. Believe me, women are much easier to live with and are stress free".
I smiled remembering the day Beth told me she was a lesbian. Her parents had kicked her out after coming out to them, but it didn't matter as my family pretty much adopted her into our family. She was my childhood best friend and if her family was not going to accept her for who she was then my family would always be a second family for her and accept her no matter what. Even though my dad was a feared businessman, he had the softest heart. Not many people knew that.
"I bet they are" I chuckled whilst clipping on the necklace that Alexander had brought me. I hadn't seen or heard from him since Christmas Day but I couldn't help but smile and think about him every time I looked at the necklace and truthfully I had worn it every single day since he first gave it to me.
"Woah! Where did you get that beauty?". Beth jumped up and spun me around staring at the necklace with her mouth dropped and eyes widened.
"It was a gift".
I spun back around from Beth in attempts to hide the growing blush on my cheek, but the devil of my friend had already seen it and knowing her, she wouldn't let it go.
"From who? The fucking Queen of England? That necklace probably costs more than my University fees".
"Just a friend" I snapped back not wanting to go into detail of my strange friendship with Alexander.
"Bullshit! Where is it from?". Beth followed my every move desperately trying to catch another glimpse of the necklace.
"Tiffany and Co, God damn".
Both of us were slightly tipsy and at this rate we would never make it to the club and be celebrating the new year by interrogating me with endless questions.
"Ok, chill your tits, I was only asking. Clearly, there's more to it but trust me when I say this, I will find out who or what you're hiding from me, understood?".
