Abby

Laughing, Alaric and I walk out of the school. Luckily Alaric's lesson was the last lesson of my day, so I wouldn't have to sit in another class as angry as I am now. "Can't we just find a way to get him fired?" I ask Alaric. He laughs again, "man, I wish! Everyone would be so much better off without him!"

"Without who?" Alaric and I look up, only to see Damon walking towards us. Alaric and I stop walking and look at each other before we look at him. "Mister Miller," Alaric says. Damon grins, "I agree to that."

"And it's 'whom', by the way," I correct him. He lifts his eyebrow and looks at me. He doesn't say anything, but just looks at me. I'm glad he can't hear my heartbeat from where he is standing, because it's going crazy. Ever since Jeremy told me what kind of person Damon is, I am scared of him. So why does he, of all people, has to be here?!

"She is right, Damon," Alaric laughs. Damon's eyes let go of mine and look back at Alaric. "I don't care. I am not in school, you are," he says. Alaric laughs, "don't you have something better to do than be here and annoy us?"

"I obviously do, but I need you for something," Damon tells him, "so, can you join me?" Alaric looks at me before he answers. "I need to get Abby home," he says. Now Damon looks at me too, again. "Can't she drive herself?" he asks.

I cross my arms, "I would, if Jenna would let me!" Alaric laughs and looks back at Damon, "Jenna doesn't want her to drive yet." "Well, then she sure as hell can walk, can't she?" Damon asks. I roll my eyes and look away.

"I will meet you later, Damon," Alaric says and he continues walking to his car. I follow him quickly, not wanting to be left with Damon. But, sadly, Damon follows as well. "Can you drop her off and then join me at my house?" Damon asks Alaric. "No, because first I need to go buy my ex-wife's office to get some papers," Alaric says.

Damon sighs, "how long will that take?" Alaric stops walking as soon as we get to his car. "Well, since I first need to bring Abby home, I will be at your place in an hour or two," he says. Damon shakes his head, "can't you be any faster?" "I am not over speeding, if that's what your asking," Alaric laughs.

Damon rolls his eyes and looks away. They both stay quiet when Alaric unlocks his car. "What if you directly go to your ex-wife's office?" Damon asks. Alaric and I look at him with a confused look on our eyes. "What about me?" I ask him. "She needs to get home first, Damon. And no, I am not letting her walk!" Alaric says.

"Fine, then I'll take her!" Damon says. My eyes turn big and my heart skips a beat, or two. "Damon..." Alaric starts. "Why not? You will be a lot faster that way," Damon says. I look at Alaric and see the doubt in his eyes.

Is he seriously considering this? "Ric..." I start, but then stop since I don't know what to say. Can I really beg him not to do this right in front of Damon? Alaric looks at me, then at Damon. "It is a better way and you know it," Damon says.

Alaric sighs and looks back at me. "Is that okay with you?" He asks. My jaw drops. Is he seriously asking me this? No! I am not getting in a car with Damon! Not since I know who he really is! Not a chance!

Alaric still waits for my answer. But I can see in his eyes that he wants me to say yes. Does he trust Damon? Or does he not really care about me that much? "Jenna and Jeremy are home," Alaric says, begging me to say yes. My whole body screams to say no, but then I look in Alaric's eyes.

"Yes," I sigh. Alaric smiles wide, "thank you, Abby!" He looks back at Damon, "I'll call you!" Damon nods, "see you soon!" Alaric gets in his car and starts the engine. I stand still, hoping he would get out and tell me he was kidding so he could bring me home, instead of Damon.
