Damon
The door closes after Abby and Elena turns around to me. "What happened?" She asks, still worried.
"I compelled her to forget everything from these last two days and told her she was just lost. And I told her to always double check if she sees 'you' with curled hair," I tell Elena. Elena sighs. I know she doesn't like it when people get compelled, but I didn't have a choice.
There was no way in hell that we could tell Abby what happened to her without exposing us.
Elena stays quiet. "You're welcome," I smile. Elena rolls her eyes at me. "I need to know what happened," she says. "I just told you," I tell her. "In that motel. How did she went with you? Did you compelled her there as well?" Elena asks.
I shake my head, "I didn't know about the bracelet yet. I thought she had Vervain in her system. I found out about the bracelet when she was already in the car with me."
Elena's eyes turn big in confusion. "Then how did she go with you? She was scared of you," she tells me. I don't know why, but that makes me smile. I have this crazy thing that I like it when people are scared of me. I don't understand it either.
"Well?" Elena asks. So I tell her the whole story. From the second I arrived at the motel, till the moment we arrived here.
Just like me, Elena doesn't understand a thing. "I still don't understand why she trusted you," she says. "Me neither, but I am glad she did. Who knows what Katherine would've done if Abby went with her again," I tell her.
"I don't even want to think about it," Elena says. I nod in agreement. "What did Stefan do with Katherine?" Elena asks. I grab my phone from out of my pocket. "The last thing I heard, he threatened her to not come back here," I tell her.
I see I have no new messages from Stefan and put my phone back. "Do you think it'll work?" Elena asks. I lift my shoulders, "who knows? The bitch never listens to us."
Elena nods in agreement. "What would you do if you were in his shoes?" She asks. I smile by just thinking about it. "I would kill her," I tell her.
Elena sighs, "of course you would. Do you ever have an other option?" I grin, "why would I? Death is so much easier." Elena's eyes go big, "Damon! You can't talk like that!"
I laugh because of her reaction, "just a reminder that I am not Stefan and I never will be." Elena rolls her eyes, "I got that. We all get that, but just stop killing people."
I get confused, "what do you mean? I have killed one person in this whole month and he deserved it!" "It's still murder!" Elena points out. I smile, "yes, it is."
Then Elena's face turns serious. "We also need an excuse for Vicki..." She says. "Vicki? Why? The police already closed that case," I tell her. Elena sighs, "Abby tries to call her..." My eyes turn big. "What? Why? I thought you said they weren't that close," I say. "They weren't, but Abby is still worried about her. She even asked if we could visit her!" Elena says, freaking out.
I put my hands on her shoulders. "Elena, breathe. We will just tell her that Vicki killed herself," I tell her. Elena shakes her head, "we can't. She can't lose someone again. That's why we didn't tell her that story in the first place..."
"I can just compel the memory of Vicki away," I say calm. Elena shakes her head again, "no, you can't. What if someone brings her up? We can't risk it." I sigh, "we will think of something. But that's something for tomorrow."
Elena sighs as well, "you're right..." Elena calms down again and I let go of her. "Tell Stefan to call me if you see him," she says and opens the door. I nod, "I will. I need to return his 'hero-hair' anyway."
Elena smiles, "thank you, Damon." I smile back at her, "no problem." Elena walks inside and closes the door after her. I turn around and walk back to my car.
When I arrive at home, I see Stefans car in the driveway. When I walk inside, he is sitting on the couch. "Hello, brother," I say when I near him. Stefan looks up at me and nods, but stays quiet. "What's up with you?" I ask him.
I walk to the coffeetable and grab a glass. I grab the bottle of my favourite bourbon and put some in my glass. "How did Abby take it?" he asks. I take a sip of the bourbon before I answer him.
"I compelled her," I tell him. Stefan's eyes narrow. "How? She was on Vervain." "It turns out she wasn't. She just had a bracelet with Vervain," I tell him. Stefan nods, "how did Elena take it?" "She didn't like it, but she knows this was the only way," I tell him, "speaking of which, you need to call her."
Stefan nods, "I will, in a moment." I take a seat at the couch across from his. "Are you gonna tell me what is on your mind?" I ask him. He looks at me and stays quiet. "Fine, keep your secrets," I tell him, "what did you do with Katherine?"
Stefan sighs, but stays quiet. "That's why you're quiet, isn't it?" I ask him, afraid of the answer. Stefan nods. "She's not gonna leave Mystic Falls," he says. "Why not? What does she want?" "She wants some sort of necklace," Stefan says. "Which one? Elena's?" I ask. Stefan shakes his head. "She says that there is a necklace in the Gilbert-family that belongs to her. She wants it," he explains.
I drink the rest of the bourbon and put my glass on the table, "then let's find it." Stefan looks at me with confusion in his eyes, "you want to help her?" "Hell no, but if she wants it, it's leverage, did I not teach you that?"
Stefan rolls his eyes, "you're not gonna find it. I asked Elena about it and she said she didn't know." I sigh, "well, it has to be somewhere." Stefan nods, "maybe it never got to Elena's family, maybe her grandparents still have it."
My eyes turn big, "maybe Abby knows." Stefan shakes his head, "no, Damon, you're not gonna ask her! She doesn't trust you." I cross my arms, "then answer this: who did she trust today at the motel?"
Stefan sighs, "that doesn't mean she completely trusts you." I stand up, "worth a shot!" Stefan stops me, "don't push it, Damon. We're not even sure she knows about it." "Like I said: worth a shot!" I tell him again. Stefan shakes his head, "no. I will talk to Elena about it. Maybe we can visit her grandparents."
I smile and nod. "You know what? You do your plan, I do mine," I tell him. Before he can stop me again, I walk away.
A few minutes later, I arrive at the Gilbert-house again. I park my car a few houses down the road. I know Stefan well enough to know he called Elena to warn her. Still, I won't let them stop me. I walk through the garden to the back of the house. Elena once told me which room Abby's is.
When I spot the right window, I climb up. I open the window and climb inside as quiet as I can. When I get inside, I see her. She is lying in her bed with her eyes closed. I walk towards the bed and smile when I realize she is sleeping. That will make my search-party a lot easier.
Before I start, I take a moment to look at her, now she's just lying there, peacefully. I realize she looks a lot like Elena. Her eyes are closed and she's breathing slowly. Her brown, long hair reach till half her back and are a bit curlier than Elena's, but not as much as Katherine's.
If she would be awake right now, she would be scared as hell, that I am staring at her like this. I smile at the thought of her brown, angry eyes staring into mine while she tells me how much she disslikes me.
Then something crosses my mind. Will her skin be as soft as Elena's? I look back at Abby. She's still asleep. She won't even notice me...
So I walk closer to her and reach for her cheek. My finger gently touches her skin. I can hear her breathing go quicker. Please don't wake up now!
I wait a few seconds, but she stays asleep. So I let my finger pat her cheek. I was right, her skin is just as soft...
Then Abby starts moving a bit. I take a few steps back. She is waking up! But when she opens her eyes, I am already outside again. Quickly I walk back to my car. I am sure she didn't see me, but what if she felt me? I get into my car again and sigh. Well, I guess my search-party just got postponed...
